Is the -SE brake bracket flimsy sheetmetal like the 12A bracket? If I do the 4x110 setup it definitely will completely eliminate the stock bracket/backing plate, in favor of a fabricated setup.

sounds good.. stock breaks are alright, but it would definatly be nice to have something better on there.

Did not wanted to sound bossy there. But it's good that somebody has come up and started this project. Just one question here, if I have coil overs and aftermarket suspqnsion, i shouldn't have any problems with your upgrade, right?

I'm doing it, no if's and's or but's.
I've already got the Wilwood rotors and Wilwood 4 piston calipers, and a new set of SE rotors to mill down, just waiting to find a spare set of SE struts with the stock brake mounting bracket so I can start to make measurments and begin the project.

It shouldn't matter.

Oh yeah, that's another one... how about a drop-in coilover kit that doesn't cost an arm and a leg...

could you even do a drop in kit with our cars.. i figured some welding would be necessary , like the ground control ones

Suspension upgrades will have no ill effect on the brakes
there are bolt in coil over kits that require no welding for the front

I'm really leaning towards them over Ground Controls, a bit overkill, but then most things I want for the 7 are, better to overkill than underkill

Has anyone done this brake kit yet? This weekend I am planning on doing the layouts to see about making a bracket to replace the factory caliper bracket/dust plate with a bracket to hold Wilwood four piston calipers using the factory rotor on a 12a strut housing. Like I said I haven't done the layout yet, so I don't know if it is possible yet.

My father gave me the idea the other day, he owns a chassis shop and is in the process of mounting some on his latest streetrod.

Now I don't plan on changing the rotors because I am thinking this would be a great way to upgrade the braking without changing bolt patterns, rotors, or strut housings. Plus this will definitely keep the costs down. If this works I will probably also do a rear setup on a GSL rearend in the future, I don't have one yet (my car is a GS), and don't plan on picking one up for a while due to the fact that I want to get the frontend planted to the ground and some engine mods done before I tackle the rearend.

Well if you search back under my name, I put in a 2nd gen subframe in a 1st gen about a month ago. It has the big brakes and the rack and pinion steering.

I just went to Dave Turners Race Shop the other day..the man who brought you the Spec7 is working on a big brake kit.. OOPS, am I not supposed to tell yet? anyhow.. it features in-house made billet aluminum hats with replacable crossdrilled/slotted/vented rotors.. to go possibly with Wilwood calipers.. project is new and in the works Costwise aimed to be less than getting PowerSlots for the rotors.

That's a really nice setup, how's it coming by the way, I checked it out when you first posted it. It would be really nice to have a rack steering system.

What I am trying to do is make an inexpensive brake kit, for myself, if it comes out real nice and simple, I may try selling it on a off road only no warranty basis like someone previously mentioned. Not sure yet. I don't want to have to replace the strut housings or the rotors, I think this idea may be quiet appealing to people if it works
