yank yer diffy, take it apart, drink a **** load of beer, slap it back together, and reinstall it. It'll whine more than Jeff20B after he kills an ignitor.

Crud gets built up in the synchros, and keeps them from working properly. Other bearings, etc. can also suffer from this. An old trick from the Datsun race crowd was to use a 50/50 mix of ATF/Gear lube in the manual trannys. The ATF provides plenty of lubrication, but also has lots of detergents that will clean the crud out and keep it from building up again.
The results are faster shifting, less noise, less wear, and a longer lasting tranny. I've used this method in several cars and was always impressed with the results. I will typically drain the solution after a few hundred miles (because it will be VERY dirty), and then refill with the same mix, which is run permanently. Hopefully this info will help...
