1st Drive of the Season !!!!
Just got back in from taking the rex out for the first drive of the season. I LOVE that car. I started putting the tranny in at about 7:30 and couldn't wait to take her out. Now I just have to be patient enough to put at least 300 miles on her before I really get into it. Can't wait to see how she behaves with all the new goodies and the lsd. She is getting a bath tomorrow, tons of dust from the garage.

Terrified.
That's great. That is all I did today was drive around. Spent about 30 dollars in gas, and spent about 10 hours in my car. I didn't get onto it very much, just enjoyed the weather as it was in mid to high 60's all day today. Theres nothing greater than that.

I was hoping to drive around all day but it took a little longer to get the tranny back together, had a few problems but figured out we could switch 5th gear from an se into the gs for the higher top end. I couldnt tell you my gear ratios now since we combined two into one. Anyway, it was 6o degrees up here as well. Wish I could have been doing what you did all. There is still the weekend though. I will have 300 miles on her before the weekend is over for sure.

I hate breaking in new clutches. I put a ceramic one in my 2nd gen that required a 500 mile stop and go breakin period. I got so tired of it I took it out and put it in the widebody so I could break the clutch and engine in together.
If I have to replace the ceramic clutch, I think I may go with a brass button puck one next time. No break in, take it out and abuse it from mile one.
Enjoy the drive and weather.

Ceramic ? I guess you learn something new everyday. On a different note, I keep reading about your widebody, very curious to see pics if you have them posted anywhere.

Well...she went out for the first drive of the season, and now she goes back in the garage. Damn it ! It appears that familiar rear end noise I heard last spring in my old rear end is back in the lsd out of the SE. I had put 125 miles on the new clutch with all the goodies when I heard it. Hadn't even broke it in yet. I was not to surprised since the tranny out of the SE was oblitirated. I did check the play in the dif and it felt great, as well as the clearance. Everything felt really tight. My conclusion is that it sat long enough in the SE and when I swapped it out and put a few miles on it the lube loosened the gunk around a bearing, thus that awful sound arrived again. Now to do some reasearch to find the cheapest price to rebuild the dif. ( not cheap qulity, just price ) I am thinking I will only need bearings and i am glad I caught it just a few miles away from home.
