1985 FB 12A Manual - Can someone please identify this component for me? [PHOTOS]

I'm trying to identify this component, but can't find it from the drawings in the Workshop Manual.

In the yellow circle...for context on general location...

Closer view. Just has a single wire coming out one end.

That's the Condensor. It's an electrical component which works like a capacitor to soak up electrical energy spikes which would otherwise cause static in your radio. Yours appears to not be hooked up.

Ha. Well, it may *appear* to not be hooked up...well yeah it's not hooked up. It was just chewed through by mice. Not joking unfortunately...
Thanks for the information.

For the sake of documentation, do you know where this can be found in the manual...? I'll go back and check in the electrical sections, but if you happen to know where I might find it I'd be indebted.

Thanks again!

Splice the wire back together and it'll work again.

No it's mounted where he shows it. At least both my "stock" '85 FB's are/were.

yes, and the FB has one on the oil pressure sender circuit also

Can anyone tell me the capacitance of this part? I’ll measure mine, but it seems to be crumbling a bit, the FSM doesn’t give the component value, and NOS replacements aren’t available, Figured I’d just go get a new generic cap to replace it....

I thought it was called a capacitor but condenser works too. The one OP showed is stock and in the factory location. Both of my '85 FB's were bone- stock when I bought them and both had it mounted there. When I was stripping the rats nest and wiring harness I looked it up and found the purpose... as Long Duck said it's to suppress radio frequency interference (RFI or EMI). Radio noise, caused by other components in the electrical system. I think I found that in the crappy Haynes manual, of all places.

I don't know about earlier cars, but '85 12A's had it here from the factory.

Edit- I dont have any pics of un-molested wiring, but the cap has always been in this location on both my cars.

Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals

they list it somewhere, and we've posted the info before as well

The part number is identified: 0820-66-992
I've searched the FSM, Haynes, and various places online; it looks NLA, but all I really need is the capacitance value itself...

Not sure if anyone knows the value (in micro-farads or whatever the value might be), or can point me to the number, but it would be much appreciated.
Alternatively, I may just ignore it unless I do notice audio interference; in which case I may just go for a value typically used in circuits to ground out high frequency interference and call it done...

For future reference to any visitors: my measurement of capacitance of part number 0820-66-992 came out to 0.5 microfarads.
