Hey all.. I have this RX7 that I have had in a storage unit for a long time. Ready to work in it.. finally! I bought it from the owner of a dealership whose wife wanted a red, automatic, convertible. He said Mazda didn't make those at the time of the build, so he had it made for her. How can you tell if the PA was done in California or Mexico? I bought it when I lived in California..

Welcome! The car appears to either be a Pacific Avatar or a copy of their design. Do you have any paperwork from the conversion?

Unfortunately I don't... There is a gold plate on the inside driver's door.. not related to the VIN... But I don't know what it says till I get it cleaned up..

When you get it cleaned up, maybe post a picture of it. We can put our heads together and possibly put together some history on the car and see who did the conversion. If its a Pacific Avatar, its worth quite a bit!

I looked thru the vehicle and did not see any paperwork for the conversion. Just that gold plate that I forgot to take a picture of...

I pulled up the vin & car fax at work today....

VIN: 1984 Mazda RX7 2 Dr. Coupe GS 5 speed..
CarFax: last mileage was 28474 - July 1993. Before it being in Ca - it was in Florida and a title was issued and odometer reported of 24125 on 5/26/1984

Looks like a lot more research is needed!

Incredibly low mileage!! How many miles are on the car now? How's the interior?

The interior is that gray cloth fabric. Other than being dirty - I think it will come clean pretty good. The dash has no cracks and looks good... The windshield is cracked and that will have to be replaced.

The car hasn't been driven since 1993 so the miles are still at 28,474! I have the original 12A motor with everything and then I have an extra 12A motor. I also have an extra trans assy; window regulators ( I guess they go out frequently??!)

I am super excited to get started on it....

Nice car!
I don't really have anything to add but to ask, what part of TN are you in?

Luckily window regulators and 12A engines are near bulletproof! I've never had a 1st gen regulator fail on me and I've owned almost 50 first RX-7's since 1999. I've replaced one on an 88 TII and that's the only regulator I remember replacing.

That is awesome!!!! Thank you! The top has one glass insert in the middle... the others ones that I have seen have a big one in the middle and another insert on each side... It will need to be replaced and I don't know what I did with the Tonneau cover... So, I will have to have that replaced. The snaps look like they are in great shape on the vehicle. .. so that's a good sign! I know I have a box somewhere - I am just hoping that it is the tonneau cover... but we have moved quite a bit and who knows!!

That is awesome! If I don't have to replace anything like the window regulators, etc... I will be very happy! No doubt I will be picking your brain and wisdom!!!
