i might be in on this too ... i just have to figure financial things out next week or so, i too would vouch more on the first set that Mar posted ... second ones are aight, but i too agree that they have a bit of a "high tech" look ... will get back to let you know

 

What if I swapped the gauge cluster from my '83 GSL to my '82 GX? Would that handle the speedo gear problem? I want to do the '83 swap anyways, and I figured that if I put in for a set of indiglo gauges, I could swap the parts from my '83 GSL and that way, it'd be a direct swap when I get the new gauges.

So, my question is: What's the easiest way to approach the speedo gear problem for the speedometer?

 

I'm thinking it won't....anyonecare to add to the list for Indiglos?? Timing is good, I've got a big refund heading my way and a spare '83 cluster sitting in a box...

 

I used the speedometer mechanism and speedo face from an 83 and now have mine with a custom gauge up to 140mph....

If you change the complete cluster from an 83 to an 82 it will work fine....

 

if the price is good I'd love to get a set but I'm on a limited budget

 

im still on the list, i want to sell my 83 but ill still get em anyways, maybe it will sell better!

I .... but was just woundering is the 83 same as the 84 guages? if not were you planning on doing both or just that one ...

 

The '83 gauge was a one year wonder...as Reyes and Frankenrex have pointed out, though, the gauge mechanicals appear to be interchangeable down to the plugs. I have never attempted such insanity myself, though...look at the other gauge thread for the pic that has those two years side by side and you'll see the differences right off the bat...

I want a set, I like the 2nd set the best!!! At night i dont want a lot of light coming from my guages...Just the numbers and needles!

 

Well, I don't know if the offer is still valid or not, but I have an 83 and I think something like this *might* appeal to me at the right price.
I am not adding my name to the list of definately interested, just because I am not 100% certain I would actually want to undertake the mod, without seeing it in a car first.
