So far the interior has been stripped, holes have been welded up and the old insulation has been removed. I recently installed a bolt-in roll bar. I've done a bit of body work fixing little dings, I also made a flush rear bumper.
I chopped off the cat, hollowed out the pre cat, put in a 2 inch test pipe, then the last half is 3 straight pipe under axle. No muffler! The springs are chopped, it sits verrrry low.
Recently I got tires for my wheels. They're diamond racing 15x10 with a -12 offset. Wrapped up with dunlop direzzas 205/50r15. Yeah they're nice and stretched! I'm currently installing 3 inch ZG fender flares, should have the other side done today.

i live the "self-built" aspect of it. that always earns my respect. i really, really like the rear bumper treatment. decades ago i saw an Rx-7 at the local races back home and the owner had done the same to his car. i get the feeling you're not old enough to "remember" the old Rotary Engineering exhaust systems (a big-for-the-times single tip job), that's what he had. the car was gorgeous. i had vowed if i ever got to a point of having a "spare" Rx-7 i would do the same. so your car brings back very pleasant memories for me.
there's a few things i would do differently, but i guess that's sort of the point, eh?
where you get the roll bar?
what kind of racing are you planning to do?

To the OP - you do realize that you can type more sentences than the window would show, right?
This way, you can create fewer threads that readers have to scroll through, and include a lot more information in one post. Saves you from having to make several posts to complete a paragraph.
On your car, I like the flares! Those have the right 'classic' look to them and fit with what many of us wanted to do when these cars were in their hey-day. Simple and elegant, later flares turned into complete fender body kits which don't look right until you do the full wheel/tire spacing setup which is really only well-served on a road racing car. Still, I like the direction you're going in, and that should be a ton of fun to drive.
Thanks for keeping another 1st Gen on the roads where it belongs! Good luck,

Hey thanks diabolical! I devote my time to trying to do everything myself if I can. I'm definitely not old enough for the good ole' rotary days. I got the roll bar from legocken on here, he lives a few hours from me. It's a kirk racing bolt in bar. I honestly want to do any sort of road racing, but there's a lot of autocross stuff around here. I've got sticky tires now, so no sense in not going racing!

I'm glad you like the flares! I spent a lot of time frowning and scrutinizing many different types. I eventually came across an old thread that someone had slightly stretched the tips of some zg flares to fit them. So I did some measuring, and harassed the guy selling flares for his measurements, and voila! They worked out pretty well!
I honestly considered going wide body several times, but it's a lot of money, and for some reason the look wasn't clicking with me.
It has been a ton of fun to drive. I push the bugger pretty hard most days, and it keeps running great. Thanks!
Well ya know I saw an episode of mighty car mods that a car had chopped springs, and they mentioned how you don't want to chop them because they may fall out while driving. I recently took a trip down to georgia and hit several bumps that felt like the car was slightly airborne, but the springs never popped out. I'm not sure if that would compare to the lateral g's of racing, but I have considered trying to secure them in place somehow.
