1982 Tail Light Cover

I have to replace the right plastic tail light cover that wraps around the rear corner of the car. I found two fasteners that hold the cover on the side of the car (10mm nut). But I cannot see the fastener(s) that hold the cover to the rear of the car. Do I need to remove the large bracket that houses the tail/brake/backup light assembly? There are six fasteners holding this bracket in place & I do not want to dis-assemble more than I need to.
Also, where would you recommend I purchase a new tail light cover? (As long as I'm replacing one, I should probably replace the other one too so they're both "fresh", right?)
I see ID#s like: Koito 220-417 86 R and 2-R-S-I-AR and E2 and 206 and 871.
Thank you.

Yes, you'll need to remove that large bracket.

Tail light covers are getting hard to come by; e.g., full assemblies are NLA from Mazdatrix; although you can get the lenses for the right rear.

Right rear lenses are also available from Black Dragon.

I usually scrounge junkyards for intact tail light assemblies, and keep a small inventory in case I need them.

Ebay can also be good; as it happens, these are on their right now:

Thank you for your reply & research ... Wow!
One further question ... the accident happened in my own garage. The end of a brake handle on a falling bicycle punched a hole into the plastic cover which guards the amber light on the corner. (It looks like it took a hit from a .22 ga rifle.) The amber light is not damaged.
You mentioned "you can get the lenses for the right rear." Is it possible to find & replace JUST the clear cover, or are they just that difficult to find & then replace?
Thank you.

the lenses are glued on, so typically Mazda sells the whole taillight assembly. or sold. these aren't available anymore, i bought the last 3 sets.

It was you...nice snag!

Yeah, you'll have to replace the whole assembly or bake the glue loose and re-seal a different lens on the light in question.

I see the FB parts are getting as scarce as the SA ones now. Makes me feel better for some reason.

LOL
