1980 rx7 12a n/a running fine now low power and wont turn
so my sa22c was running fine started up fine when I went up the hill to go get gas for work tomorrow morning when once I'm down filling up it won't crank over sounded like a dead battery which is wierd becuase it was brand new but I thought it might be drained a bit since I left the lights on for a bit accidentally so I proceeded to bump start it and get her home on the way home I couldn't go above 3k rpm at all throttle response was normal until I got to 3k in which it hit a point it wouldn't go any more and would start backfiring also couldn't even keep the headlights on or the engine would die from loss of power I'm not sure if it's electrical maybe the alternator the car only has 59k mi and I bought it at 56k 4-5weeks ago was running strong and everything I premix when ever I'm not out of 2stroke oil need help asap it's my daily for work I think it may be the altinator but I'm not to sure was looking for other input on this thank you for any help you can give me

Just a update had to move the car quick so I bumped it again seemed to be fine above 3k rpm got it up to 4K. I'm thinking it's the alternator and found one locally at my Autozone I'm going to pick up tomorrow and install see if that fixes my issue if anyone can confirm that would be give me some peace of mind for the meanwhile

You can get an alternator for a 86 FC (series 4) and its plug and play and bumps the output up
to 70 amps. I have one in my SA.
How old is the battery? A bad battery can make an alternator seem bad and eventually make the
alternator fail. If you get a new alternator, make sure the battery is good and less than 5 years
old. Usually a date on the battery to indicate when it was made.
Before jumping to the new alternator, you should use a DVM to see what the output voltage
is at the alternator and the battery. The FSM at http://www.foixed.ca will have the specs on
the voltage you should see. Roughly the alternator should be putting out about 13.5 volts and
the battery at should hold a charge of 12-13 volts.
to 70 amps. I have one in my SA.

It was the alternator took it off and went to Autozone it was dead got the new one for 55$ dollars it didn't have the right bracket but I made it work like a half inch of gap between the mount and the hole the bolt goes thru
