If you go back, I'd gladly pay you for the exterior body molding pieces I mentioned previously. Also, the chrome trim ring on the shift lever and the grey plastic surround it attaches to. Probably take all of 5-10 minutes to retrieve. Maybe the shift **** too, if the emblem is in good shape.

I don't think I will go back, it is a 1.2 hour trip to and a 2-hour trip back. I wish I would have obtained your text before I left TBH I can put the word out for the molding bits locally.

Well if you decide to go back for something else you want, gathering some additional parts could help pay for your gas. Its not often that one of these hits the yard anymore.

I agree with Banzai! And I would happily pay you for the cluster and pay for shipping.

I'd be game for the fenders because you never know. The wheels too but probably be both a pain to ship and a pain to pay for shipping.

Turns out the "power steering" was a CP racing rack and pinion setup. Looked pretty nice so I pulled that. I know that they had some issues, but it looks like this might be near the end of their run. I will post separately with some questions about it.

I also pulled the 3-row short radiator that looks almost brand new, along with a good, apparently leak free oil cooler. I will check locally with some of my racing buddies and see if they can use the combo and if not, will probably put it up for sale. I used that setup for about 10 years in my race car and had no problems until I sprung a leak. At that point I couldn't find the 3-row radiator and went with a long one and mounted the cooler out front.

There is still the gauge cluster that I could pick up for someone. If so, I would like some hints on pulling it. Otherwise, there isn't a lot of stuff left other than the body. There were two waffle wheels left.

I'd take the hot start assist bracket on the drivers side tower. Don't need the mechanism, just the bracket. They are different (1979/1980) then other years.

Is any of the body molding available? Get behind one end with a screwdriver or small putty knife and they should just peel right off. Need the front drivers fender and rear passenger fender.

Would also take both door moldings too. What about the grey plastic shift surround w/chrome trim ring?

Is the fuel pump mount / cover still on the car? interested in the fuel filter spring clip holder.

That oil cooler was drenched in oil, I cleaned it and then put it back in and left the bolts loose ( you are welcome they were bitch to crack) . The radiator looked good but I already have a 3 row haha. Good to find out what that set up was.
As for the waffles, two of them were really road rashed and I and my dad decided to leave all five, one bolt was stuck on the righthand side and we managed to remove the bolt after an hour. Thanks to the wheel I feel no one had bothered taking the suspension off .

Also if you go back please get the molding for Banzai, just tug on it, it won't crack . I feel bad I didn't see his post in time, I would have taken them .

Do you think they still have whatever goes between these two pipes?

Trying to finish up the exhaust on my friend’s 80 and can’t find whatever used to go here…

That corrugated part does not mate up to the front TR pipe. That corrugated pipe goes up by that rubber hose in the top right of the pic.

I can see in your engine pic that you have a block off plate where the TR front pipe would go. Unless going back to stock, you'll need the make something.

In a stock configuration, the corrugated (air) pipe attaches to where I circled in red below. I suspect this car has a block off plate covering the attachment point.

The part that is missing is the ACV (Air Control Valve) Thats the part that KC shows in the parts book illustration above. It bolts to the intake manifold, where the block off plate that is visible in your picture is. In the middle, just under the plastic carb shroud.

That metal tube coming off the thermal reactor is half of a 2 piece pipe that goes to the side of the ACV. And the air pump (not sure if this car still has this) feeds the front of the ACV thru a rubber hose.

Here are a couple pics I saved a long time ago which shows the components of the 79/80 SA exhaust. I think someone in the past may have bypassed or removed some things they felt were not needed.

Thanks for the pics. Those are very useful!

Now i remember that corrugated pipe thingy... it crumbled apart when I removed the exhaust manifold a few years ago. Is there a replacement available? I'm reverting this car to stock so I'll probably replace the blocked off parts. I should make another thread on this topic...

OK. I will probably try to go back to LKQ tomorrow (unless my covid booster kicks my butt). Banzai wants side mouldings (will try to get them all?) and fuel filter holder. The shifter stuff is all gone, just a naked shifter is left. Mazdaverx713B wants the gauge cluster and surround. KansasCityREPU wants the hot start bracket (a pic would help, since that part has not been on my car for at least 15 years). Alberto is looking for air control valve and associated? Last time I looked the entire intake system was still there with even a clean looking Nikki. Anything else anyone wants?

Please confirm that you guys still want this stuff and are willing to pay the LKQ price (will show receipt) plus 10% and shipping. I would appreciate it if you could let me know asap. I won't be going back a fifth time :-)

Without knowing what LKQ wants, I'll commit to that very front drivers side and behind the wheel opening passenger side front moldings and the fuel filter holder. Thanks.

I've spent the better part of this year tracking down some OEM SA exhaust parts. There is some stuff still out there, but it takes a lot of digging and inquiring. Even the majority of the gaskets have become quite rare. Its probably easier to just throw a Racing Beat system on your car nowadays.

The man who rebuilt my engine kept my ENTIRE original exhaust system and installed a 84 System . Granted the bottom pipes were very rusty and the thermal reactor was in rough shape. .
Also random trim parts are 15$ each at pick your part.
Hey Carl , after much thought and regrets , could you nab me the Driver side fender + the inner plastic guard , It is a easy job , just take as long as an Extension you have plus a fee small ones for the bolt hidden by the door.

@Carl I think I have the ACV. Just missing the tubing / piping stuff.

I hear you. We are trying to get this 80 put back together to sell. We took it apart a few years ago to fix some oil leaks and then life happened…

Now I’m struggling to remember where everything goes…

I want this out of my driveway…

Carl, I just need the cluster. If the surround comes with it, great, if not, that's fine too. Please make sure its a 1980 cluster and in what would appear to be usable condition. I understand you cannot verify if all of the gauges work. If you want I can pm you my cell phone number and you can shoot me a text. Thank you for thinking of me!

Yep. Covid booster had me in the recliner yesterday, but went to the yard today. Picked up fender, inner liner and defroster cable for Frogman. Gauge cluster and surround for Mazdaverx713b. 2 x trim pieces and fuel filter support for Banzai. I will PM separately about details.

To make it worth it, I found the right front strut that Frogman and removed several cars away. It will be getting cut down shortly for VW Golf Bilsteins.

It is going to take a couple of days to get the smell of rat poop and wizz out of my sinuses. That car must have had an extended family of rats living in it.

I found one of the rats... he was dead where the battery was .. best part was I was singing " ratatouille, ratatouille, where is the ratatouille" was I was yanking out the stuffing in the rat bed, and out comes a dead rat.. I yelled and chucked the ******.. got a good laugh out of some lady. I suggest you rinse your nose with a netty pot and gargle your throat, that stuff itched my throat for a few days. That part you found I left both of them under the car along with the calipers and disks no idea why someone would carry them far away.
