1979 Solenoids on Rats Nest
Hey all. I was changing my thermostat the other day and I managed to break both solenoids on my rat's nest while putting my air cleaner back on. I guess after 25 years, the plastic gets somewhat brittle. Now I know that you'll all say "Just get rid of the rat's nest." I would, but I autocross in the C Stock category, and I am not allowed to modify or remove any emissions equipment. Sooooo, now I have to replace the solenoid boxes. Will the later FB boxes work? I can probably find a couple of those, but the earlier '79 boxes are a no-go.
While I'm at it, did the '79 have two or three of those soleniods? My car now has the EGR (blue) and the air conditioning (white) and an empty orange electrical connector. Was there supposed to be an orange box as well? If so, what did it do? I know on the later FB, the orange was vaccuum advance, but I can't really find a reference in the shop manual concerning the orange connector.
