I have a 1979 RX-7, and for the most part like it. 91k miles so far on it and everything works good. 5 speed, sunroof, but with cast iron rims... How many other ppl have this same year and model, and do you like it?. Any suggestions on better rims without getting the conversion kit?

What "cast-iron" wheels are you talking about? Are you sure you don't mean stamped steel? ALL non-SE 1st gen. wheels will fit.

The color is "joyful red" according to a paint color book, back when I had my '79 of the same color and needed to get some touch up paint.

I have the 85 wheels on my silver 79,looks better than the 79 wheels IMHO. You might think about upgrading the ignition system to 81-85 spec.Get rid of the points ect. Also the front brakes on 79's are a little weak, I warped th rotors in one trip down Germantown Road (3miles)

I'm a proud Savanna owner, having owned a FB and then my current SA, which I rescued from rotting away in a farmer's field last November. She's been good to me, but needs some work to get back into shape. I need to replace all the oil cooler O rings, the oil pan gasket, and do some body work and paint. She screams along pretty good and does well in the local AutoX though.

I've swapped out the points for the electronic dizzy, and am in the process of installing DLIDFIS and a rear disc axle from an '81 GSL. I also got rid of my old ripped black leather seats and scored some nice cloth seats from an '86 GX. Much better support all around, and good lateral support for hard corners. I have also switched over to the '+' rims.
