15x8 Rota RBs for 1979-1983 RX7?

Has anyone tried these 15 x 8 wheels (4 x 110 with +20 offset)?
If yes, what has been the experience of Rota RB wheels (made in Philipines) vs. Panasport (made in Japan)?

The price of $575 shipped appears to be outstanding.

Haven't tried them yet, but I just sent the company an email. I'm very, very tempted.

Rotas are kind of known as FAKES in the JDM world. Have you ever heard of JDMEGO? They make some funny shirts and stuff....They have a slogan that says I HEART YOUR FAKE WHEELS and the heart is broken...

they also have a t shirt that says FRIENDS DONT LET FRIEND RIDE ON ROTAS...and the front says something like F*CK YOUR FAKE WHEELS etc....

but...if you dont care about having fake wheels go on! That's just what I heard...

and these wheels are in NO WAY near PANASPORTS quality and race heritage...not even in the same category. So if you are choosing...go Panasports...the real deal wheel.

I bought a set of Rotas for my SE in about 1992. I paid $100 each for the wheels at that time. I think they were 15x6 1/2, maybe 15x7, I'm not sure. They impressed me as being very good quality, smooth castings.

We spun a couple of them before mounting the tires and the balance was perfect. I drove on them for several years and the finish held up very well.

So because we drive Japanese cars we have to put nothing but real Japanese parts so we can be mad JDM? I guess Rotaflo makes fake mufflers and RB sells fake exhaust systems. If the quality is good for a good price and you like it, who the hell cares? Only the uber rare made tyte jdm dorifto boyzee who paid more for something they could have gotten cheaper for the same quality product

They wont be the same quality as Panasports, but they still are good quality rims and meet both US and Japanese regulations regaurding wheels.

Aside from that, they just look nothing like pana's, eight rounded spokes don't count... they look more like the wheels found on the new mini cooper.

Also look at watanabe's although more rare in the 4x110 bolt pattern. And they are m@d Tyte's JDM's yo.

*I run watanabe's *

I emailed Takumiproject.com about some Watanabe's, and the reply was that they can make basically any bolt pattern you need, 4X110 included. You'll pay about the same for one wheel as you will for all 4 Rota's, but they are reknowned for quality, and the offset just looks sooooooo damn good. Just remember, for anything over 7 inches wide, you will have to do something with your fenders.

Maybe you misread my post I never said my opinion one way or another...i just gave the OP the general consensus of what I know or have heard around the campfire that ROTAS suck..and they are FAKE JDM WHEELS...meaning they COPY the INTELLECTUAL PROPERTIES of others and sell them for way cheaper. The OP asked about ROTAS vs PANASPORT...so my pretty educated answer is they are NO WAY in the SAME CATEGORIES...because of the quality and heritage.

but since we are on the subject...a good deal is a good deal...but if I am going to build MY car...to MY specs...than I want REAL wheels...I dont plan on getting Rotas ever for my car...but thats just ME...so if you want to rock fake wheels go on...all good. And my opinion is not from a mad rice drifter boy....its just my preferences. Let's see...you can have a set of Watanabes or Panasports...and you will take Rotas? I dont think so...

If those Konig wheels are the right offset, I would not be wasting my time with anything else in a 15 inch. That is an excellent price. And certainly the quality of Konig wheels is not an issue.

Someone should clue these people in - if they fit 79-83 then they will fit 84-85.

Rota does make copies of MANY different JDM wheels but does that make them poor quality????
They actually do a very good job of reproducing expensive JDM rims for a fraction of the cost and that alone shouldn't give people the right to talk smack unless they have personal experience of Rota rims that have failed. I personally have run Rota wheels on my SE for over 3 years and they have never failed me. They are light weight and maintain their shape very well even after all the abuse I put them thru. Why pay $300 or $500 per wheel when you can get one for over half off that looks just as good???
I personally paid over $3500 for a set of "name brand" Billet Rims for my truck when I owned it and they lasted just about the same amount of time as any other "cheap" rim I have owned over the years, after that experience I made the decision to get the best bang for my buck and that in return lets me change wheels more often than if I spend a small fortune just to have a "NAME BRAND".
All I can say is...To each his own ..... get what YOU like and not what other people like.
just my $.002

I posed the same question a few weeks back... https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=713389...the replies were "yes, it will fit, but a flare would probably be needed."

Figuring a stock offset is a +20, they will probably stick out 1/2" or less in back. The fronts would be the problem...if we can get a 7/8 combo, it would fit much better.

I've seen those wheels on ebay a few times and wondered if they would fit too. I'm tempted to just go with Rewinds, but for some reason, Rewinds with the +20 offset just don't look right to me.

Are you guy's 100% sure fenders would have to be rolled for 8" wheels? It's not gonna be like just adding an inch to the outside of the Rewinds. IF I understand correctly, it would be like adding some to the inner part of the wheel and some to the outer part. (Could figure out exactly how much if I wanted to spend some time on it) It just doesn't seem like 1" is that big of a change.

Now is the time to buy 4x110 rims IMO. Who knows if they will be available even next week, lol. Parts for our cars are becoming more and more difficult to find. If you see something you like and it fits, jump on it

it comes down to what you want to support....fake wheels are fake wheels. the quality might be passable...but they are making money copying another manufacturers designs. I mean it goes into all categories. All this crap about CHINA copying LV BAGS and GUCCI belts etc. All fake...but I tell you I have been in the illegal stores and if you are not an EXPERT they look feel and made to the highest "quality" but they are fake bags. I also like shoes...Jordans. TONS of fakes...how can you get fire red and black Jordan 3s that are deadstock? Well check ebay...get them shipped to you for $50. Would I buy them? HELL NO.

So like I said in my post I was only answering the OPs questions and telling him the consensus...if YOU want to rock ROTAS go for it...I just personally would not put fake rims on my car. I never posted about quality or fit or finish..all I know is I heard and seen the reputation...ROTAS are fakes. Thats all...everyone can make their own decision on what they want to use on their cars.
