13b Twin turbo into SA 12a

Just as the title says, can it be done? I found an insane deal on a AWESOME twin turbo 13b from a maz RX7, I have been quoted 2k to swap a turbo 2 engine into my 12a RX7.... Would this be much harder? Thanks guys

I'm assuming these turbos are from a 3rd gen RX-7? If so then don't do it. The turbos are absolute crap and are actually what lead to the demise of the RX-7 in north america. Just swap a 2nd gen TII engine into your car and be done with it.

Thanks for the advice, I will just do that. If you don't mind me asking, what was the problem with the turbos? I know twins arent ideal for power, but just wondering. www.tigerjapanese.com has 13b turbo engines and trans, all the stuff needed from a 89+ T2 for 1000 shipped to Ohio, so I will have 3k in the whole swap. Not bad if you ask me. Thanks for the help once again, I feel like such a n00b with these damn rotaries lol.

Good luck with that JDM motor. You will find alot of horror stories from members that have bought used JDM's. Yes, they will tell you they have a warranty. But who is going to be taking the thing in and out? You might want to atleast get compression specs from them first and then if you do order it, test it again,"Before" you put it in.

All I have to say is "Beware"!

Where else can you find a good, low mileage "affordable" T2 engine? I would not want to have to send it back and forth, but I am more than inclined to pull a motor, but I dont want to do it unless it must be done. I am open to suggestions, as I am a new guy and am not sure where to find these things lol. Thanks for the help.

The only motor that I personally would trust is one either that I built or took out of a car that was just running. And that I verified all functions of the motor before I pulled it.

Not trying to scare you off, just have seen too many post bad stories of those motors.

The stock sequential twins on a 3rd gen are great in stock form, but try to modify the car any and it quickly falls apart. The turbos are small and IMO inefficient. They definately wouldn't work too well in non-sequential form, which puts to rest any use of a standalone with them. But don't quote me on that. I'm no expert on the 3rd gen setup, but the turbos are one of the many things that were badly designed on them. Save yourself the headache of getting them to work and just go with a TII engine.

I plan on using a JDM engine for my car. I have seen the compression results and it blows 100 Psi in both rotors, so Im hoping for the best.

Mine comes with a 6 month 6k warranty.

Getting the engine in and out isnt the hard part, its making it work thats the toughy!
