Welcome to the Darkside. Please be sure to use the search function for all your turbo questions. Believe me, that question gets asked here on a daily basis. Limit the search field to just the 1st Gen section.

Look into upgrading your suspenion and tires first. They'll make a world of difference. A V8's weight balance will more than likely disturb the perfect weight balance of the car.
Look up Kentetsu's videos of him doing auto cross.

Did my junkyard S4 TII swap back in 01' for about 1500 bucks. That was rock bottom cheap, with lots of junk yard parts used.I did all the work like EFI wiring, plumbing, mounting, ect.I only paid out labor for the driveline, exhaust system and gastank work.I did replace all the seals and gaskets and gave it a tuneup while it was out.
That said, the rest of a stock 1st gen would hardly be up to the task of controlling even a stock TII engine swap.If you wanna race it,youll need better tires, brakes and suspension to handle the higher speeds youll reach with the 13BT.Even bone stock it make twice the HP and torque of a 12A. A GSL-SE chassis would be better equipped from the factory to handle a 13BT with its bigger brakes and better lug pattern. But still, there will be other expenditures besides the engine swap,to get the car "balanced" so that it does everything well, not just accelerate. If you were just drag racing, itd be less of an issue than auto-X or roadracing, which requires all aspects of the car to work in harmony.
