first of all, LEARN HOW TO TYPE! We all like it when people type in proper engilsh. You know, proper spelling, puncuation, etc. etc. If you type your posts in a neat, understandable fashion, people will be more inclined to help you out. Second of all, check out the Newbie Stickie that is at the top of the forum. There is a ton of info there on the TII swap, and swapping in the 13b-rew engine is pretty much the same. There are a few guys in the first gen section that have swapped the 13b out of the J-Spec Cosmo and got pretty good results (like 400+ horsepower), but to do this properly costs alot of money (last rough estimate that i've heard for a full TII swap was about 15k, add 2-3k more for the cosmo swap because you'll have to get a full front clip to make sure that you get everything that goes with the engine, like wiring harness, ecu, etc).

You can do it way cheaper if you do the work yourself.

a TII swap would run about 5k for a first gen and that is a pretty dam good motor setup, I don't know where you get 15k from. But the rew swap will run you more ofcourse.

Yes it's possible, but as much work as you want to put into it is what it all depends on. You could put a flat-four in an FB/SA if you wanted to, you could even make it fwd (wtf?) but it all depends on your mechanic skills.

i was going off of a for sale thread that someone had posted this past month for their FB TII that wasn't complete yet. He said that he had 12k invested in the swap, with new rear end and drive shaft and everything, i tacked on a little more because it is a -rew swap and they require more custom work, along with the core and rebuild cosing more than a TII core and rebuild.

I think PM's were meant to stay Personal, not broadcast to the public. If he wants to type like a thug, let him. See how much help he gets when he does it. Let it be.

Personally I don't care if he wants to talk like a thug. That is his issue. But I have to admit that my head really started to hurt when I was reading the post...owww.

Ok now for some valuable information...

First of all let me tell you that yes there have been many people doing the 13bt swap. Good swap and for the price hard to beat.

Here is what I have learned through personal experience and discussions in the last 6 months.

1. for a 13bt swap look to spend a minimum of 3k. This is a very realistic number. Yes I know that people have done it for less than this but that is with junk yard parts.

2. Do a lot of research prior to the swap. Make sure that it is what you want to do and make sure that you have deep pockets.

Ok now for the differences between the two swaps.

2nd gen parts are a lot cheaper. Therefore the entire swap should be cheaper. I personally have seen high hp numbers out of these blocks. They offer affordability and hp.

3rd gen parts are more expensive. (I will speak generally so that I also include the cosmo 13btt as well) This will cost an increase in price as well. With this engine you will get the "pimp" factor and there will also be a few more vendors.

In the end I chose the 3rd gen engine. The reasor for this is because I wanted to make sure that I always had a supplier for any aftermarket part that I wanted. Also I do not really like the way that the 2nd gen intake manifold looks. (I know they can be swaped) And thirdly I wanted that Pimp factor.

Ok now for prices:

13bt: 3-5k depending on what you do

13btt: approx 5k. Now granted it is really easy to go overboard on this. My swap will end up to be about 10k when it first gets running. Remember that this is without and body stereo mods. purely engine.

Whitey: The car you were thinking of was highly modified. It had a large single with a full standalone. This is partly why there was 12k of work done to it. I feel that Max got a steal on this. I just wish that I would have caught the thread. I would have snatched it up in a heartbeat. He got a steal of a deal. Alt least si went to a good home. Max is a real nice guy.

In the end Dduck I hope that you found this post informative. Just remember that people will be more inclined to help you out if you speak properly ect. Nothing against you, I am sure that you are a big boy and can make your own decisions.

damn, I am so jealous of you guys with the nice engine swaps. I can't wait till I actually get some money and can put some serious power into my FB. The 13b-rew swap is so awesome. But a Renesis swap with a greddy turbo kit would be insane. (expensive too) So many possibilities for engines with these cars, the 13b-rew would be a awesome platform for the FB though. Lots of time and effort though, thats for sure...

prior to the juvenilistic pm you sent me, I was only joking. having fun on a forum. If you honestly get that angry over what I posted then you need an anger management class.

"Maybe I shouldn't chime in then, I might hurt his feelings"

this was in reply to another members post, and I left it at that as I have been known to have a very sarcastic way of writing, and the joke was pointed more at myself, than at you.

hence the reply by whitey85mtu Quote:please do, Please? Why would he write that? Because I can really bugger up good thread sometimes.

But as God is my witness, you send me another unlegible(not to mention rude) PM like that, and I am gonna send you a gift wrapped version of ESL: English as a Second Language IIIrd collegiate edition: I use it as a primer when I am teaching english to kindergarten aged Jappanese kids.
