Question 13B Swap....tranny fit?

Hey guys, got a few questions for ya. Since it will take a completely new engine to get my car running again, (so says that rotary guy at the Mazda dealer) I was toying with the thought of a 12A to 13B swap in my '85 GS. BUT, one problem. I want to keep the auto tranny. (flamers, stay away, it stays ) Will this work?

Also, the web site I am thinking of buying the engine from has a core charge. If I'm buying a 13B, won't they want a 13B in return? Or will they accept the 12A?

Thanks for all the help!

If I'm not mistaken, it should work. The bolt pattern from auto and manual trannies should be the same. What year 13B are you getting? You might also need the GSL-SE oil pan, 12A front cover and a new engine mount (or slot your old one).

I'm thinking '85 13B. Good choice? My initial intentions is to go all-motor on the drag strip with it.

Engine mounts....... I heard some people sell a 13B to 12A swap kit. Does anyone know where I can get ahold of one of these? Price?

Engine mounts can be bought at Racing Beat or Mazdatrix. Are you going to run a carb? Do you already have one?

You'll also need a rear counterweight if the 13b came from a MT car.

I would be kind of worrying about how well the torque converter will hold up to the aditional torque.
