13B four port into a SA
Would the TII motor bolt directly up in a 79/80 RX. To my understanding it is a 13B four port and I believe the earlier 13B four ports will bolt up directly, right?? Am I wrong on this or what? What it comes down to is, I do not want to do a lot of custom work to a a fuel injected engine into my 80 RX. Also to my understanding, a 13B 6 port you have to do major mods to get it to work. Any info will help and I am pretty sure that I will get corrected if I am wrong also.

It's rare for a T2 engine to be called a 'four port' mainly because of the earlier NA four port 13Bs. This is to reduce confusion. Yes a T2 does have four ports, but the generally accepted term for any four port 13B you'll read about here is refering to either a '74-'78 13B, or to a multi-year beast which has 12A side plates and '74-'78 or '84-'85 rotor housings. A T2 engine has low compression rotors and won't make as much power in NA mode with similar porting as an old genuine 13B four port engine will.
To answer your question, a T2 engine will fit in an '80 if the front cover is replaced with anything from '74-'85. Most people seek out a GSL-SE front cover since the OMP better suits the T2 engine. They also try to get a GSL-SE motor mount because it was made with a 13B's extra 20mm of length in mind. Get a GSL-SE oil pan too.
I'm not sure of any carb intake manifold available for a T2 engine. There's plenty around for 13B four port engines though. Hmm, you could try an Atkins supercharger. They make a manifold which fits a T2 engine I believe.

Are the T2 intake ports different than other 13b 4 ports? For some reason I thought that they were the same. There is an option you can consider which would resolve the low compression of the t2. You could use 91 n/a high compression rotors.

go to mazdatrix's site and check out the racing parts section. there are Weber carbs and manifolds available for every 13B out there, T2 included.
and, yes, i agree that you'd be better off building the motor with high compression rotors because the T2's stock compression ratio will be less than ideal when used without the turbo.
