13b CAS in 12a???
ive searched and ive found nothing regarding the swap.....my question is that is there anything else u need to do this swap besides the CAS?...once i swap the CAS i can just hook up 2x MSD box's and the megasquirt to control ignition...it sounds too easy to be true so i know theres got to be something im missing....any help is appreciated...thanks...Parker

But since your '82 probably doesn't have an ECU, then it makes things way more complicated.
Unlike the distributor, which sends a signal (or makes contact) when a certain plug should be fired, the CAS sends many signals which the ECU uses to figure out what degree the engine is at currently, so that it can know when to fire each plug.
I've been looking for a way to go CAS for a while, and it seems that unless you get an entire ECU, you can't do it. I haven't found an igntion-only control system, they all have provisions for FI. Which I s'pose isn't a bad thing, but I'm trying to stay away from computers in my car.

The megasquirt can do it. You don't need the MSD boxes either. Check out the megasquirt section under engine management section on here. They have the MS able to do leading and trailing ignition. I think you have to build a simple add-on circuit, though. You then just use the CAS and 2nd gen leading/trailing coils and you should be set. You will have to setup an ignition map or get one from someone that has already setup a good one.

well im goin FI on the 12a no matter what b/c i figure tuning will be easier that way once im turbo'd....and i just purchased a CAS...now i just need the coils and im set......the MS board is pretty easy to put together and ive researched about using it to setup fuel and ignition controls....i think i got the main points...will be posting pics of the process of turning my FB from show to go

i talk to jayrock daily....and he went with the same setup except for the fact that he was running the IDA TB...im goin to be using a 4brl TB mounted on a RB intake.....at the time i hadnt seen jayroc online lately so i figured i would post a thread b/c of the fact that i found a couple of CAS's come up for sale in the 2nd gen section.....but i talked with him today and he worked me thru the little things i should grab up....but thanks for all the advice
