13b 6-port rats nest?

So the teardown is coming nicely. Ive got most of the electronics tagged and dissconnected, the intake and exhaust off, and all of the vac lines tagged as well. All thats left is to drain the oil and coolant, remove those lines, and pluck that sucker out of there!!! The rebuild video should get here monday, then I can pull the block apart and HOPE TO JEEBUS that my irons and rotors are ok, and all I need to do is proceed with the porting (still debating on what kind) and rebuild.

Now, I've read alot about rats nest removal on a carbie, but there HAS to be some smog / emissions related equipment that can be left off when I rebuild and reinstall. Anyone have any info or links to such a project?

P.S. The motor in question is a 13b out of a 85 GSL-SE with 80,000 miles. Now I know it depends on how the engine was treated....but is it possible that a engine with that mileage is still in spec? Like I wont have to get new irons, or get them lapped? Ill know for sure when I pull it....i just want something to dream about ;-)

If the engine was treated and maintained properly, the irons, housings and rotors should still be in spec, unless it threw an apex seal or saw a lot of over reving.

The rat's nest removal applies to the carbed versions, there isn't much value in doing the removal on the FI engines. Sub-components that relate to the ac and cruise can be removed, but other than cleaning up the bay and eliminating potential vacuum leaks, leave the rest of it.

While it's apart, replace all of the old vacuum lines.

Im told it blew a apex seal. Makes sense because there was very low compression on the rear rotor. Hopefully everything is ok inside.

Thats what I was thinkin...not much to remove. I did, however, rip out the whole A/C system, and a shitty sound system install.

When i pulled the radiator tonight I saw some of the nastiest liquid that has ever graced the earth with its presence. Randomly sized brown chunks of cement / jello textured substances. Ick.

BUT I got everything pulled and tagged. All thats left are the bolts holding the block to the bellhousing and the front motor mounts. Then its time to jerry-rig a engine hoist with ratchet straps and a few well placed holes through the ceiling joists. Hopefully have it out by mid-week and get some good pics of it up.

Yea, we are pretty surgical around here.

Thanks!
