I used to run 205/60/13 BFG R1s on stock rims at Blackhawk farms. Those tires did amazingly well in the rain. Had a good life span for an R rated tire. Don't hear much about them anymore. Are they out of fashion or not being made?

I ordered 215/50HR-13 Sumitomo HTR 200 tires ($48.00 a pop). I'll be picking them up tomorrow.

You might ahve missed a better tire at a lower price. I've been using Yokohama ES100's on my E30 track car and they are reasonabley grippy but still handle water pretty well, and are at home on the road without quick wear. I'm reasonably impressed by them.

Going to take a week or two to get them in, so i guess I'll have to limp around on my space saver spare for a while. This is gonna suck trying to keep near the 50mph speed limit for the spare...
No problem. You'll like the 195's, they're the best fit for the stock rims IMHO.

Update...

So driving home on the other night I blow the inner bead on the donut spare!

Now I've got no spare, so I call BCAA and get them to tow me home.

Tried to reseat the bead myself, but the spare is a bugger to do because the rim doesn't have a safety bead on the inner lip.

I thought about using ether and exploding it back onto the bead like I've done a few times with the tires on my 4x4, but the donut is so small I thought I might blow it right up...

A friend of mine has some old 13" rims & tires, so I try to put those on, but of course they don't fit since they were from his corolla... So now I gotta go to the tire shop and have one of his tires swapped onto my rim so I can use that until my tires come in. What a hastle... I sure hope these Sumitomo's are worth it

Yea I am thinking about this Sumitomo HTR 200 also but would like to pick those with a size 215/50 HR13 hopefully. Beside that I been looking around for the Radial T/A GFGoodrich but I dout I would fine any. I run those on a size 195 but they last long and if I can find them that would be great to get a set of them. However performance in water is not the greatest being that they are old technology. =/

I've run 205/60x13 for years on my 80 GS with the original stock 5.5" waffle alloys. That seems to be a good profile for those wheels. Anything wider would tend to roll over the rim IMHO. This size is also close to the stock diameter so it doesn't mess up your odometer or speedo too much.

I've always run 205-60-13 tires on my first gens, although various brands over the years. But they are getting harder to find. I'm currently running Sigmas that were purchased in Vancouver two years ago. I phoned everywhere for them, and the only other ones in that size were a set of Dunlops --- but those would have had to be shipped from Calgary, where I live. Too bad I was on vacation and needed the tires that day...

I'm going to www.aimtire.com and ordering the RA-1's. I've driven a race car with these things, and they are S T I C K Y.

I use Yoko A008 205/60R-13 's on a set of diamond 7" wheels for my street tires... these also fit very well on stock wheels.

I'm running my autoX season on a set of those right now! They're a pretty good tire considering how long they've been around. What kind of life do you get from those on the street? More importantly, how the heck do you drive on them in the rain? Those three grooves just don't cut it, IMHO.

Is 215 the widest street tire made in a 13"? Was just scouring the net for some 225/50/13s but they no longer seem to exist. Wanted to find something for my 13x8 Revolutions.

yes I have the yoko yk420s right now. and I would not get them. they were on the car when I bought it. they are not too loud and good for a patient driver. but if you are aggressive then dont get them. they roll over with aggressive driving. wet traction is scary too. I cannot wait to take them off!

Hi everyone, I run Falken Ziex ZE-502 tires on my stock 13" rim it has the measurements of "205/60R13 87H" tires. They are by far the best tire I have ever owned on a first gen 13" stock rim. The wheel looks like this:

I will get some pics tomorrow of them on my car. They handle good. 0% tire roll that I have experienced vs my old GoodYear tire.

you are running 14 inch wheels on your GSL-SE. only the S-GSL had 13" rims and the GSL-SE had 14."

I have sold my SE awhile back and I am not sure what size tire it can take without scrubbing on somthing.

But yes you have the 14 inchers.

Thumbs up

Here are the pics of my car with the Falken Ziex ZE-502 "205/60R13 87H" tires on my stock 13" rims. They look real nice to me and performance is A+.

Pics were taken on my cell phone so quality might not be 100% perfect.

Nice Tires, I like the way they look for I still think that for my car with the white letter on the tires look alot better for me. I might try this tires I came across and hopefully they are not expensive. They are Mastercraft Performance GT or something like that.

And thanks alot '85GSL-SE for letting me know they are 14s! I think I am going to go ahead and purchase these tires when it comes that time. As some of you may have I read I was going to be taking my car earlier this year to Mexico to get everything re-done. Well funny thing happens that the day before I was to leave my car broke down and I finally got everything repaired and extra thanks to a fellow board member who sold me an AFM that I needed to get her into working mode.

I plan to still take it to Mexico sometime this year fix the car up and give it to my younger sister as a surprise Xmas present. Older brother has to do what an older brother has to do
