Hey sounds good, I'm on the same track....

Just got my holley fuel pump. Got an intercooler from a volvo... I have a spare by the way.... Actualy I was gonna trade for a guy who's got a turbo from a TII, I figure the TII charger should be more than enough for my little 12a, only planning on running 10lbs boost... Well mayve a wopping <<<12lbs>>> sometimes

My exahust manifold is in the mail, as is my carb bonnet for my holley, only 169.00 polished. I'm hunting for a blitz BOV on ebay, almost had one for $85 but I got disconnected! Then I need a boost refrenced fuel pressure regulator, only $111 @ jegs.com.

Then I'm rebuilding the motor, the carb, gettin an exahust made up, and I should be road ready... much easier to say!

I think I'll start to take pictures as I go along to keep a photo log of what is going on.... Once I get the plan all laid out and the money all put together I'll do a good thread write up with some pics so you can see where I'm at.

PS: when we're both done we should race! hehehh

isn't the 12at fuel injected?. sounds cool dude. i got a NOS fuel pump. an intercooler off of a 3rd gena bigger rad. and a haltech fuel man. mmmm many other odds and ends. i'm going the turboII turbo also later on. i'm told the stock turbo is safe up to 12lbs intercooled.

Yeah the actual 12at's are fuel injected... but good luck finding all the stuff you need to get one together. I did see a throtle body on ebay though.... also once I saw the low compression rotors too.

But I guess if your resourceful enough you could convert fuel injection over.

What I think would be cool is if there was some way to have direct injection on a rotary.... after all the oil meter pump has injection holes, couldn't there be a spot for injectors.... maybe when I get acess to a better shop I'll try it.

that is what makes my set up so unique and slightly dificult. it is one of maybe 3 or four in america. it is a genuine complete engine with a factory turbo and fuel injection but like i said it didn't come with a wiring harness so i' using a haltech. lower commpression rotors are the base for this gem. it came as a complete engine or so to speak. i was wondering if anyone on here has done this. i will get some pics soon. eventullay using the haltech i will also stage 2 injectors in the intake manifold to kick on at a certain rpm so i can run more boost.

i like the whole fuel injected 12a idea...Im doing a 12at too, but mine is a blow thru set-up with a 48mm weber. i wanted to buy one of those j-spec 12at's, but I already had everything to make mine blow thru. I still got the 12a low compression rotors, but it would be better going fuel injected I think. Id like to see some pictures too. Hope everything comes out good and as planned for you with your 12at project.

the 12at's also had oil coolers

so your just turbocharding your 12a from america with the low compression rotors?

p.s. carb is the way to go for serious hp. all you need is a bridge port. but fuel injection is def good for the street and tuning.

i'm ordering all the stuff to get it going in a few days.
oil cooler lines (got chopped off in japan)
clutch line(broke)
TII throtle cable to reach around to where the right hand drive bracket is. also to reach around my BOV
a gm 2 or 3 bar map sensor for the haltech load metering
and a battery other than a few odds and ends that shouuld be enouhg to get going.

The 12AT is a low powered engine with the same output as a 13B in the gsl-se. It was originally designed for the Cosmo, and over 95%of the jspec engines sold secondhand are from written-off 20 year old Cosmos.

To get any decent power out of one requires porting, a decent turbo and fuel management system. A new manifold will be required to add an intercooler.

The result will be an engine 15-20% less powerful than going with a second generation 13BT, while the exercise will be double the cost. The best solution is just getting a imported 13BT which most rotary tuners can obtain. Even tricked out with every modification the 12AT is struggling to out perform a stock 13REW and has lost streetability.

However, if you want to brag to the uninformed about having a jspec 12AT, and not be judged by its performance, then its an interesting way of spending money.

the project more or less fell into my lap with the 12at. this is a huge learning experience for me. about the manifold , i have 2 options a shop where i lve informed me they make a hood to go over the throtle body to eliminate the intake btween the turbo and the tb. or i can just cut that intak e pipe about 6 inches up it and just run pipes off of the turbo and the remaining portion of the pipe. i'm all about making a decent race car. first off after the car runs
exhaust
intercooler
tuning
porting (big street port)
tuning
bigger turbo.
tuning
suspesion

paint and wheels(traction) will need to be in there somewhere. and yes one of the plus points for this track is its rarity. as for cost so far i have paid very little and am doing all the work myself. but like i said i'm new to this so any tips/helpful hints. will be greatly apritiated.

Nice job on the body work! I think I wanna do the same... err.. else make some new fenders and doors outa glass or carbon. But I'm not quite ready to get to that stage.

Right now I'm just trying to find a good turbo!
