12a Throttle Cable Vs. -SE 13b on engine swap

well im about 90% done my -SE 13b swap into my GS, right now its down to wiring and scoring some parts, one of which is the throttle cable.

from what i've read the 12a throttle cable hooks right up? uhhhh, no. the housing is roughly the same length, but the cable on the 13b is much longer from what i've seen in pics.

can anyone justify this for me? i've stretched the 12a one as much as possible and at best i can connect it but then the pedal has no play and the throttle is pulled wide open.

what i basically need to know is if the 84/85 SE cable is indeed longer, or if i've just goofed something up..

thanks!

i need pics of the linkage between the end of the throttle housing and the body, to show the length, however thanks!

i am EFI now, but the pain is wanting me to go back to a carb....

i have a pic somewhere of a 13b close up, i'll post it when i find it to compare.

Don't carb it man! With gas at $101.9/L you'll really regret it, especially because this is your "cheap" car. I do know that the S4 throttle cable is much shorter overall but has a longer inner cable relative to it's length if that makes sense.

P.S. I should be rocking the 13B and standalone next weekend.

just for future references (searches) the 12a (GS) and 13b (SE) cables are waaaaaay different. even with my engine mount having the engine sitting a little whacky the 13b cable swaps directly in without any problems. just installed it and it fits like glue. the 12a cable would have never fit even tho its longer, the housing takes up most of it, the 13b has a much shorter housing but the cable fits differently.

got the car together yet grant?

Dude, $101.9/L is like paying $3.59/gal so I'd say we're paying a little more than you guys. Paradox: I just finished the Megasquirt tonight (it's easy) and I'm going to install it this weekend, hopefully that'll have the car running.

I was going to say if you have the stock SE 13B intake you need the SE throttle cable.

I put a S4 intake manifold and throttle body on my SE and needed to bend the crap out of the cable bracket in order to keep the cruise from tugging on it all the time, I should've probably got a S4 cable, but it works...
