12A Seals
Hello, I am rebuilding a 12A engine for a school project. I have taken the engine out of the car and it is completely apart. I ran into some problems and I found out I need to purchase another rotor and housing. before I invest more money into this project I was curious how much new seals would cost and if anyone knew where I could find them. I am not looking for Heavy-Duty seals, just regular ones.
Thank you

Like stated above if its a school project you should get the fsm and check the wear, if within limits then reuse, (I read for when reusing apex seal you need a carbon assist peice to reseat them on the springs, i think in the haynes manual but I have never had to do it this way im not sure if thats still how its done), I dont think black dragon sells apex seals, I go through mazda trix there apex seal come glued together. if no major flaking or pitting or groves on housings they should be fine.
clean your parts well, measure precisely, and follow the manual!
Good luck

Thanks for all the info, now I just need to make a decision. I have another question, I'm already planning on replacing one housing, but I attached pictures of my second housing. It is in much better shape than the first but I am not sure if it is reusable, anyone have any opinions?

Alright. It's beggining to sound very expensive haha. It looks like I will have to find another engine. I guess I will look around or do a failure analysis of the engine. Thanks for all the help.

You should put a WTB post in the first gen parts section. You're bound to find somebody willing to part with housings for a descent price. In fact, there's the odd time that someone will part with housings for just shipping - especially considering that you're a student and wanting to get into the world of rotors.
Good luck with your rebuild. Keep us posted of your progress!
