I believe I'm ready to paint.

And another noob (I'm not sure I know what I'm doing) question:

Do you paint the gasket surface, or mask it off, or sand off any over spray so its back to bare metal?

A little tip for painting an oil pan, Do it in several very light coats. Dont do any heavy coats or it may fish eye. No matter how well you degreased it.

Thanks for that.
I'm trying to do everything in small steps, even if it takes longer as I want to get this right the first time.
