12a Rebuild: Recommendations for flushing Beehive

Searched but nothing yet.

Yes, I could go with a different option. For now I want to keep it stock so that I'm not introducing new variables on the rebuild.

I would like to "rinse out" that is flush the Beehive Oil Cooler.

Any suggested fluids would be appreciated, or options besides replacement.

It does not leak.

Thanks.

Flush the coolant or oil passages? I flushed the coolant passages when I changed the o rings and coolant hoses last year. Just sprayed with the hose nozzle for 5 minutes or so.

As to the oil passages, I'd use some kind of aerosol choke cleaner or similar and rinse with some kind of oil. But what do I know?

The beehive oil cooler is off the engine.
The irons and housing have been cleaned and I'm half-way through assembling the stack.

Just trying to get as much gunk out as possible, but I'm not even sure the cooler is gunky inside. It may have been flushed/cleaned 30k ago, but I do not know for certain. If not, then it has 156k on it.

No hands on with beehive but ive cleaned the inside of OC using combination of dishwashing soap/purple power, brake cleaner and pressurized water from a garden hose. Thats with the oil thermostat removed, not sure if beehive has a tstat.

Have Purple Power, Simple Green and brake cleaner.
I'll give it a go and see what comes out.

Thanks.
