12A Problems & SE Spark Plugs

Two Questions,

85 GSL 12A - Brand New Engine - it'll run for about thirty seconds and then it will die. The fuel filter fills up about halfway when you turn the key to on.

What gives?

Second Question,

GSL-SE 13B, my second rotor bottom spark plug had oil on the threads, what's up with that? All the others were clean. It burned off what was on the spark plug before I took them all off.

Has the 12a got an imoboliser (sp) on it somewhere with a switch that you have to turn on/off.....so it cuts spark/fuel after a start?

checked your lines for leaks? how are the spark plugs? battery?

Not sure about where that oil is coming from on the 13b. But on the 12A, does your fuel pump continue to run? It almost sound like an issue with the fuel pump relay/ECU. The 84/85 cars will run the fuel pump while cranking, but rely on the ECU to keep the relay energized after that point (GSL-SE uses a switch in the AFM, I think the 12As use the signal from the trailing coil to determine if it is running). Maybe try bypassing the fuel pump relay if you already haven't.

Alright,

Will try to bypass the relay and see if that works.

Leave the relay in place but just run your own wire on the low-voltage side of the fuel pump relay.

It was a bad fuel pump, we bought a new one and it's pumping and revving just fine (12A).
