12A Oil pressure guage blank

My on dash oil pressure guage doesn't seem to work at all. I replaced the engine block mounted switch, but nothing. I have never had one not work, is it common for the dash guage to need replaced?

Did you actually test the new sender you put in? I believe there is a testing procedure in the FSM

If the wire to the sending unit is grounded when the ignition is turned on, the gauge fries in seconds. This often happens when the wire is mashed between the engine and tranny when installing a new engine with the tranny in the car.

I did not test the sender, the engine is original and the wire looks pretty good. The tach has been acting up lately too, so I am wondering if the guage cluster is just going bad?

The gauges can go bad. Pull the cluster, and look at the back side of the gauge. You'll see a winding of fine white wire. If there's any discoloration, brown/black in the winding, the gauge is toast.
