12A Motor Search

I'm looking for a 12A core motor for a 1st generation Rx7. I'm looking to rebuild it so i'm curious what parts are needed to be replaced to make a new good strong motor. If there are any links you guys can link me to, to inform me on what it takes to rebuild it that would be outstanding. Also if anyone is selling an old motor, lemme know of my options because i'm looking to rebuild one for my 7

I hate to do this mazdaverx713b, but from what i understand that is one of the pricy repairs. Look also in the 1st gen parts for sale forum.

During almost any rebuild i would recommend replacing the apex seals (unless a very low mileage motor). So if you buy a motor w/ the intent of doing a rebuild...you might as well get a deal on a blown one. That is just my opinion though.

Yeah but the thing is... if it has a blow apex-seal then there's a good chance it may have taken out the rotor-housing, rotor or even both the side plates. Whereas with a running engine you can often reuse these parts.

I have a 82' 12a with only 70k original miles, no leaks, sitting on my garage floor. I may already have a buyer....but I'm not sure yet.

Have you read the secion in the Haynes manyal for the first gen rx7. It as a pretty good break down how to do the rebuild.

Sure, engine paint will work fine except on the exhaust. But you have to make sure its good and clean first.
