12a Intake Manifold for Hitachi 13b Carb

I've got a 12a engine that I have a 12a manifold for but the carb I have, which is for a 13b I believe (says Hitachi on it and is currently mounted to a 13b 4-port manifold), does not mount the same as the 12a carb. Is there a manifold that has the correct mounting for a later model carb or do I need an adapter of some sort?

You are probably better off selling or trading for a 12a nikki carb. I am running a nikki on a re-drilled 4-port 13b manifold and the bolt spacing is quite a bit smaller. I don't think there is physically enough space on a 12a manifold to mount the wider bolt spacing of a hitachi.

On a side note If you want to part with that 4-port 13b manifold(rx4 i assume) I would be interested.

Yea it doesn't look like there is any way to mount it directly to the manifold. Are there any companies that make adapters specifically for this kind of thing or is it just best to get a 12a carb? How about companies that make adapters to mount a 13b 4-port manifold to the 12a engine?

Both of those options sound feasible, but not worth the effort. 12a nikki carbs are still quite plentiful, cheap, and easy to rebuild/mod. If you are determined to use the hitachi then i would suggest milling a piece of 1/4 alu plate to bolt to a 12a manifold and have studs for mounting the hitachi (bore spacing is the same).

My suggestion would be to acquire a 12a nikki

Ok thanks for the info, can anyone point me to some write-ups simplifying the nikki carb to remove all the emissions and any other unnecessary stuff?

If you are ever in Spokane i would be glad to help, I know there are people in your neck of the woods who have also removed the rats nest/stripped carbs. I could get a pic of one of my car's engine bays if you need.
