Unhappy 12A help please

OK, All of us on here are at one point or another, requesting information, gotta love the community of Rx7 owners, we are inclined to help our fellow Rx7 owners rather than compete exclusively.
SO... I have an 83 FB, with a street port NA 4bbl, basically the usual. It's the engine firing that has me stumped and Im a mechanic so this is weird to me even. I cannot get my engine to fire evenly at all. I have new coils, plugs, wires and dizzy. My timing is almost dead-on, but it still misfires, backfires and I have a stain on my rear bumper from the unspent fuel. (which I wash off often) All four plugs 'appear' to be firing at some point but it is obvious to Ray Charles even, that it is not.
I did buy a new ignitor, am waiting for the other one to come in so I can replace them both, except the tachometer operates from the trailing one and I switched the wires around to see if it would work from the leading ignitor and it did. Sometimes when I am on my way to work I will get upto around 100 mph and when I pull into work and shut my car off, it sounds like a shot-gun after its off. (unspent fuel)
I did find a guy here in Illinois who is willing to Dyno-tune my car for free and I want to be sure that all of the components are working for him to do that, what is possibly happening here that I can go to next? I feel somewhat proficient with the rotary but this has me.
OH, 1 more thing..... my lights tend to 'flicker' at night which I believe to be a dead spot in my alternator, ANY ideas? I would deeply appreciate the info....

I would start reading the stickies at the top in the sections that covers trouble shooting carbs and ignition. Quite helpful and extensive. If you can't find your answer in there, you will at least be able to eliminate a number of possibilities.

Ignitors are either good or bad, rarely intermittent. How are your cap, dizzy rotor, plugs and wires, and coils? It almost sounds like you have either worn ignition electrics or spark jumping somewhere in the system.

Hows your battery cables? Grounds are good and solid? Have you pulled the plugs and looked for fouling yet? Is the carb flooding? Hows your dizzy cap and rotor? Carbon tracking in the cap can cause erratic ignition and misfires.

Im going to re-check those connections, my plugs need looked at again, I clean them up and replace and it seems to run fine for a bit but then back to the usual. Its very frustrating... I appreciate the replies so far.
