12A Engine

Greetings!

I'm considering an '84 project that needs a new motor, and was curious as to how much I could get one for, either running or needing a rebuild, etc...

I'm new to the FB section, owned two FCs previously, so go easy on me.

All help appreciated!

The car is owned by a friend, and the temp guage was pegged on a hot day until the motor ceased to work.

You can usually find running used engines (with owner's claims that they "run strong", etc) anywhere from $250 to $750, with $4-500 being the average. Check this and other forums, thepartstrader.com, ebay, etc.

Rebuilt engines on the sites listed above are about $1700 plus, depending on warranty, mods such as porting, etc.

Basic rebuild kits for the do-it-yourselfer are in the $800-1000 range.

Hope this helps.
