12a + EMS

Just wondering if some of you guys have ever added an EMS to a 12A engine. If so, what are some good ways to add or place injectors on the engine? Perhaps, grab a some 13b intake pieces? I did notice a pair of injectors feed directly into the center plate, I think?

For timing sync, I guess you could simply use a later 13B CAS?

So, can you only do this with a 13b?

This is a lot of work and $$. You can get 12a IDA style manifold and throttle bodies from TWM.

Unless your going forced induction, it's much cheaper and just as fast with a carb.

TWM typically has very nice pieces, albeit for very steep prices. Good information though.

How about using 2nd gen parts? For example, TB, UIM, and perhaps an adapter for the LIM? I could use the FC upper fuel rail and perhaps the lower fuel rail as well.

I already have the EMS + harness, so that is a non-issue. Mostly at this point it would be hardware.

This will be an FI application.

Mazdacomp.com has 12A-13B adapters you can use. I'm not positive on this, but you will not be able to use the 2nd gen fuel rail and injectors since it's mounted on the middle housing itself. Everything else is doable. I would stick with the stock ignition since that's a proven setup.

you been better off geting the twm ida stile TB that trying to fit 13b-6 ports stuff on a 12a 4 ports seem not worth the hassel. you will run into some trouble like the lower fuel rail wont fit because the 13b the middle plate have holes for the primary injetors while the 12a didnt came with them( unless is a 12aT) is your choice how you wanna doit, just giving you some imput about it

All good info guys, thanks. By the lower fuel rail, I should clarify I mean to use it only to feed and hold the injectors, but as far as a place to have them shoot into, that is another story.

Perhaps into the 12A LIM just before it enters the center plate, if the spacing between injectors is correct.
Or I could have another rail made, or seperate fuel lines to each injector.

I will look into the TWM parts.

The ignition will likely use FC ignitors and coils, as I will have the correct dwell for them already known. I heard that FD coils are largely the same?

The hardest part, aside from the injector and intake hardware, will be the triggering and cycle sync, but if the FC CAS is anything like the FD CAS, I will also then know the correct # of teeth and sync information. FC has 24 event "teeth" and 2 "teeth" for sync. It will be as simple as filling in numbers into the correct fields...
