12A Carb + engine problem question
Hey guys,
I got a 12A street ported with a holley 500 carb on it. I got a holley blue fuel pump + reg. My problem is kinda messed up. I had a short in the fuel pump line. I fixed it and the car ran fine. But i didn't realize that the engine fuse was gone so my alt. wasn't working. Well i finally figured this out. When my rad started to leak. So i pull the rad out to fix that problem. And i forgot the cap from my stario was still hooked up and i had some more shorting happening. Put in a new rad. Car started running like poo. I have checked all the fuses, the coils, the spark plug wires, ingniters, timing, and spark is getting to the plugs. Now the car was siting for about a week while i was trying to get alt. to work. The plugs keep getting wet. I clean them off and put the back in and they get wet again. It was running but not very well. I changed the jets in the carb to smaller ones, and adjusted the float and fuel pressure to try and get the car to stop flooding. I believe its flooding but i have no idea why since it was running fine. The fuel filter is new aswell. I am thinking bad gas? I don't know. If anyone has any idea's i haven't thought of i could try i would apperciate your feedback. My other question is, what kinda jets should i be running in a 12A streetport with a holley 500 on it and what accelerater pump cam gear should be placed in this. At the time it was running i had a 70 jet in it and it ran fine except for the cam gear since it is wrong. I can't figure it out. I am hoping someone has had a similar problem that they might be able to suggest somethings. Thanks

do you have fuel pressure regulator
and maybe the 500 is to big ive heard of street ported runing 450 wich is close but
and check the fuel pump relays have them tested...or get some in your case.
is the carb manual or electric choke...
heres one thing you can try , like you reseting the carb tuneing tighten the fuel 2 air screw(s) down all the way, then your supossed to turn them like three full turns out, dont udjust them little by little until the car purs it may just need some real fine tuneing....

Punctuation and paragraph separation would be a great help. Sounds like it might be flooded; dump a couple cap-fulls of motor oil down the carb and try again...

It just seems odd that it was running fine with that carb on it before i took the rad out. I am thinking maybe there is too much oil in the gas? Or the gas is bad. I will try the carb thing tonight if noone else has any suggestions.
