12A Bridgeport?
12A Bridgeport?
hey all.. Im kinda new to the whole rotary engine thing.. But i have a 81 RX7. The carb on it has issuse and i dont want to deal with that one.. So i have a 4bbl holley that im gonna put on it. And now I need to buy the intake for it. But I dont know what the difference is between the 12a stock port of the 12a bridgeport is. And i dont know what mine is. I pulled the old intake off and it has 4 ports, 2 on the outside, and 2 on the inside betweent the water inlets. Can anyone help me out? thanks!
If your engine was bridgeported, the seller would have made a special point of mentioning it, repeatedly.
Bridgeports are rarely found with a stock carb. It won't flow enough air to feed the beast.......

Trust me, you would know if you had a bridgeport.
It would sound something like this:

yeah i just figured it all out.. Someone had told me it was some factory option?! and i had a hard time believing that. So i figured id ask.. But thanks though. My plan with this car is to build up a turbo 12A blowthrough.. Ive done many V8 engines, but this is my first time tearing into a rotary. Gonna be pretty interesting. If anyone has any tips id really like to know about any.
Even if your 12a block is stock and there it's not a bridge port motor...Save yourself the trouble and just get the Bridge ported intake manifold...And as far as carb go with a holley 600 or 650 vacume second's good carb for good power...just my 2...good luck

right now i have a 600 vacuum sedcondary that i just did a rebuild on.. I'll jet it right and see how that works.. Later on i plan on getting the holley blowthrough mechanical secondary for the turbo.. if i go that way.. I doubt im gonna use the engine thats in it. Its got a few miles, and i wana put together a fresh one set up for boost.

Hello, I have a stock 84 rx7gsl 12a. it needs a little more power. It has no cat, turbo muffler and a nikki carb. I took the spring out of the vaccuum secondary diaphram and didn't see much difference ( I wonder if the secondaries are even opening). Power seems to top out at 6800 rpm. My main question, is it possible to do a street port without removing or rebuilding the engine. Also, since the cat is gone, and exhaust flows well, would a header make a measurable difference. Carb works well, but can't find the idle screw. Choke works but fast dile doesn't. Thanks for any advice.
Funny thing was not one person slammed me or told me to search, I got constuctive replies (2003)
I probably just got laid and was in a real good mood

I didnt see your post at all.
If your switching carbs don't forget to continue to get oil to the apex seals of the rotors. If you put on just any carb at least premix your fuel. That way you don't burn the engine up.
Nahhhh, you were just 14 at the time, browsing all the pictures on the web and just coming out of the ghetto learning how to read for the fist time while looking at your neighbors rx7 thinking it looked like a Ferrari.
My holley has a port on the front side of the carb towards the front of the car. I just put a tube right to the carb from the OMP. Wacky should be able to explain it and may even have a picture or two. Or you could just premix..........
