New member, first question (5 speed convert)

Hey, I got this 84 rx7 for my 16th birthday and then it went dead after about 2 years of hard driving. It is firing but i have no compression so i am lead to believe, by my minimal knowledge of this engine, that one of the rotors tips is not flush with the housing. Anyways i want to take this car and make it into something i can race at the local track.

QUESTION: I want do the 5 speed conversion and i want an exact parts list so i can plan out how much money i want to spend. Tips on what parts i can get from a junkyard and which should be new would help too. Thanks

Well you need a transmission
probably a transmission mount

You either need a flywheel or counterweight, cant remember right now.

Should be cheap if u can source the parts from a junker

there are a bunch of threads on it, not sure if they provide a detailed list of whats needed but if u post in the thread or PM them then im sure you can get a list

try the faqs for your engine problems and my sig for carb manuals and the FSM for your year

You also need the clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, clutch hydraulic line, clutch slave cylinder. Than a case of beer to aid in the installation.

and for the motor, you'll need a rebuild from what it sounds like. I'd suggest emailing a fellow forum member here in Oregon. His ID is RW-7. He does great rebuilds and will more than likely be able to help you with anything.
