12A Blocking Plates for Emissions Removal
On the Mazspeed emissions writeup they mention that Airpump blockoff plates are available from Mazdatrix and Racing Beat, but I can't find them anywhere. Any idea where these things live?

Well, I'm trying to get everything together to yank my rats nest. The Air Pump gets removed entirely, but any idea what the blockoff plates they use on the Mazspeed writeup are? From what I understand they remove the ACV and you need a blocking plate w/ 3 bolts to cover the hole in the manifold. Do y'all just leave your ACV there but disconnected?

RacingBeat intake=No ACV
Do you plan on keeping the stock carb?
I had the rats nest off before with the ACV still there I just pluged up the needed lines.
Think ahead, are you staying with the stock set up if so..Buy a ACV plate from Mazdatrix.
I also have a 79 intake with new 83-85 intake gasket..and Mazdatrix new bock off plate and ACV gasket forsale.

These are the two plates I bought about 3 years ago when I did it using the plates. ACV block off and the cat air pipe block off pictured below are what you will want if you've got a 81-85 12A car and plan to eliminate all emissions. They have been sitting on a shelf forever and I know I'll never have a use for them, plus I'm in a generous mood today, so if you want em, just paypal me $3.85 to cover shipping and they are yours.

Okay, so what are the two plates for, then? Can someone just break it down for me? One covers where the ACV went once it's removed - what about the other? With the air pump, you just remove it, throw on a shorter belt, and plug the hole in the aircleaner, right?

The bigger plate is for the ACV.
The smaller one is where the tube from the cat convertor mounts to the side of the intake closer to the firewall,You better jump on the deal before someone else does,Check with Mazdatrix prices..
Remove the air pump,Get a dual alt pulley ,I got a RB one, then instead of runnign the stock size belt,Im running one I think like 1 in shorter,You can aim me if you have questions.

Yeah, I already PM'd nimrod and set it up. Damn, I can finally get rid of my rat's nest. It feels so good to make some headway finally. I replaced the front bushings and fuel lines, removed the strictly-mechanical fan, dismounted my dryrotted tires.... It's just good to be getting closer to the ride I want finally. If only I could find my electrical short I'd be 'cruisin.

Gotcha - just goes on the cat's air pipe flange, then? In the writeup by RX7carl they just crimped that line but I'd much rather use the flange. Cool.

We crimped the flange because we knew in another week the project car (mine) would be getting a header-to-muffler exhaust makeover.
That being said - crimping worked fine, and since my exhaust was roached anyway, I'd have to replace the cats if I moved to an emission-testing state anyway.
The specific belt needed (instead of getting dual belt pulley, or other nonsense) is listed in the tutorial. Go to any hardware store with that belt number and they can/will order it for you.
Cheers.

You could also just plug the single reference tube inside the manifold that is connected to that pipe. Or you could plug that tube along with two other 'holes' in the manifold and give away your block off plates.
