12a to a 13b tt

So, heres the deal i split a coolant line and had to get the car home. had no money for a tow and i was up a creek. well blew the coolant seals. i was gonna fix it but i found a 13b tt. How difficult is it going to be to drop that in the car. it is a complete motor and trans with the ecu. If anyone can give me some advice that would be great. this is my first Rx and i would really love to have fun with this car. thanx for your help

Yes it can be done but it is quite involved. Kevinbtz did a write up on it a while back IIRC. I will search for it for you.

Edit: ok I found it. Here you go.

You just answered you own question.

If you did not have enough money for a tow home how do you expect to afford doing a swap like this?

With that this thread is closed.

Hmmm I got the impression that he has a S6 twin turbo motor (13B-REW)? Dunno, but the TII swap is alot easier to do, you need a SE front cover, oil pan, oil pickup tube, and it basically bolts into the stock crossmember. Basic drop in that doesn't require any welding or custom made parts. Also the TII transmission is a breeze to bolt up if you decide to go that route.

I hear that you do not need the SE front cover, you can use the 12a. The reason most people use the SE is for retaining the OMP. Correct?
