12a to 13b swap
so i'm looking and i see some differences...most of it is the emissions stuff that's been removed already from this 13b. i've still been unable to locate the previous owner or the shop/person who built this engine. all i know is it's from the Seattle area. Anyways...i'm in the process of pulling my stuff out, and before i go too nuts with it, i'm noticing a lot more "stuff" on my harness than was on the other car and i dunno if it was removed or just had less stuff. my car is a '79 the car i got the engine from was an '83. What do i need to be looking for in the ignition stuff? i kept all the ignition pieces out of the other car, and my engine is just now being pulled, so anything i need to snag real quick? anything i need to make sure i do or have to get this ignition working?

if your swapping a 13b from a first gen to a 12a first gen all you'll have to worry about is the wiring. But if you have both cars just swap everything over. Leave the drivers harness (controls the lights, signals, horn etc) alone and swap the passenger harness over for the motor as you will also need the ecu for the 13b. On a side note was that 13b in the 83 already swapped in??? Only gsl-se's had the 13b factory and they were 84 and 85???

I think your going to have to cut a bigger hole for the shifter. On my swap it was basically a 13b tII to a 13b, same length and originally i used the same tranny... good luck and lets see some pics.

put them on a photo host site, like photobucket.com or imageshack.com, then use the icon with the little mountain and yellow background when you post and a pop up will come up then you paste the location in that pop up... hope that helps
