12a --> 13b front cover swap
i am currently taking off the front cover off of my 12a and i want to put it on my 86' 13b n/a engine.... but i have a couple questions........ when i do the swap 12a cover on 13b) which pulleys do i use??? do i use the 12a' pullleys or the 13b pulleys??
is the OMP from the 13b gonna bolt right up to the 12a' cover after the swap and function properly? i looked in the 1st gen archives but no answers.
one more question before i forget..... do i remove the oil pressure control valve spring and plunger from the 12a front cover and replace it with the 13b' oil pressure control valve spring and plunger?
i couldnt get my hands on a haynes manual for a 1st gen here at local book shops. are all of these things interchangeable??? if so which am i better of with im trying to install my 13b from my 2nd gen into my 83 gsl.

Use the 13B pulleys as the timing marks are different between the 2. You need to use the 12A mop with the 12A cover and block off 2 of the mop ports on the engine. I would keep the 2 on the housings operational. You would be better off using the SE front cover, then you can use the 4-port mop.
Leave the front oil pressure relief valve alone, It's there in case of overpressureing and has the same relief pressure. Ther rear valve is what controls oil pressure and they are the same also, iirc. You can also mod the ropr to up the oil pressure. There should be a thread in the archives with pics on how to do that.
If you need manuals, downlad them from the link in my sig line.
