12a with 13b center plate,?

i did the fc subframe swap in my 83, which means i loose the use of my stock engine mounts, i have a brace that i made, which is solid mount, but it gets in the way of rad hoses and i really dont want to keep it in there, just wondering now that i have to do an engine rebuild, can i get a 13b 2nd gen center plate, which can attatch to the mounts on my fc subframe?? this would be super helpful, i did a search but it seems like not many people do this, so just wondering if its possible,

also, i have an idea about an actual adjustable rear oil pressure regulator, thats actually adjustable, with a bolt, but ill try and figure it out tommorow, and ill have pics if it works out,

um, im not sure exactly what you are asking. are you talking about the intermediate housing with the oil stack on it? if so, yes, i guess in thoery you could use it as long as the water jackets line up, but i see no benefits.

also, if you are talking about the intermediate housing bolting up to the mounts, i was under the impression that the mount comes off of the front cover...like on my 12a...correct me if im wrong...

p.s. sorry if im way off, thats just my interpretation of what you are talking about.

No. The coolant ring grooves were switched in 86. Switching the center plate from an FC would leave you with, iirc, 2 coolant ring grooves facing each other. I have pondered this same question.

If there are 2 grooves, why couldn't one JB-Weld or use Liquid Steel or one of the better metal fillers in one of the grooves. There are some fillers that should take the heat, but I wouldn't go for anything less than 1000* and preferably 1500*

Be adventurous, be the first and let us know how it comes out.

FB engine mounts are in the front.
FC engine mounts are in the center(intermediate housing)
FD engine mounts are in the rear

you can only use 13B center plates (or end plates for that matter) if they'd be pre-86. As mentioned before, the seal-grooves were relocated on 86-onwards models. Since pre-86 models used front mount too, there'd be no reason to do so.
You might be easier of with maching the 12A center housing to accept the engine mounts.
