just my opinion i think cold air intake would only be sutiable for turbo or efi

all it did was make the sound and gave me a reason for a k&n filter which you dont throw away garanted for 1million miles lol

Yeah, the open sides really let ya hear the carb under hard acceleration. My buddy is planning to do something like that, since we can't get another lid like mine........
I just drew a line around the filter, and fired up the plasma cutter. The air cleaner was off the car, at the time......

I just wish I had a Sterling carb under it, instead of a stocker with mech secondary mod.....
I spose you could have someone with a CNC machine you one....... I like the method RESpeed used to compensate for the offset of the filter vs the center of the carb.

Is that a real thick piece of aluminum? Is the back machined like the front to reduce weight or what? Or am I way off and it's like stamped sheet?

I know a guy who does machining...

It started out as about 1/4" aluminum. Backside is machined where the filter goes, along with an o-ring groove, otherwise just plain.
bwaits (RESpeed) said they may offer a newer design at some point in the future, but it would likely look a little different. If they do, and it is anywhere near the same price, I will buy a few more. That way, I can save the "1 of 5" for shows and such......
The more I post this pic, the more incentive RESpeed will have in re-introducing this product, cause it sure draws lots of comments.......

Yea, so true. I'm going to see if that guy can make something for me. It'd cost me materials and a 'tip'. I'd want something with a base and top to fit like a K&N filter and mount on the holley. Hell, I'd be happy with a top to fit on a pre-existing K&N air cleaner setup similar to this one.
