100 RPM Idle...why???? 1984 SE
Today I'm driving along and all of the sudden I feel a loss of power...when I reach my first stop light since noticing I see my idle is at 100 rpm...REALLY LOW but holding...
I think instantly I blew an ignitor...so I go in and change it with a working ignitor and I get the same thing. I recently did a 2nd gen direct fire so I then revert back to the original configuration...stil the same thing.
Maybe vacuum leak...but I just changed everything out this past winter...
I've read the Idle Issues website before (84 SE) and I was wondering what steps I can quickly go through to determine whether its a vacuum leak or ignition problem or neither or both?
here's the vitals:
1984 SE
Vacuum lines all replaced this past winter
Cap, rotor, plugs and wires replaced this past winter
2ng Gen direct fire done 2 weeks ago
Thanx!

check andmake sure all plugs are firering. i take it you cant hear a vacum leak. or you would know thats it. but try and listen for something thats not usually there. could it be a fuel problem?

well i just got back from turning her on and i noticed a slight hissing...but nothing more than it usually does...this problem did start right after i got the tank filled...hmmm...i do have a new fuel filter waiting to go in...i'll try that tomorrow.
but just a quick question...
do SE's have a slight hissing all the time? i've heard it on mine and i've never had the chance to compare it to another 13b FI...its never been a problem, I've just thought it was the engine adjusting itself to keep the 800 rpm...

drove the car to work this morn...
first i noticed when i first turned her on that the rpms were low during the warm up...she only reached about 1500rpm where usually she's higher...
then i noticed the same loss of power...but sparatically hitting...really quick bursts of full power...as quick as a snap of the fingers i'd say...but you feel it.
could it be a broken seal? bad gas? broken igniter? fuel filter? vacuum leak? what other issues could cause this? if it is the seal...i'm not sure i'd do a rebuild...
