0-60 formula ( proven +/- 1 second at worst )

weight of car in kilogrammes
0-60 time = ---------------------------
maximum bhp of car * 0.9

The sight I found used this formula versus a long list of cars with known results and most were within a few tenths.

680 rwhp should be a 3-4 second car if he can hook up.

1100/(220x.9)
=1100/198
=5.555 seconds

So your car should be within the 4.5 to 6.5 0-60 range ( if you can hook up )

Mine
1000/(180x.9)
1000/144
=6.99

I'm actually in the low sevens ( reaction time, driving skills, a little break of traction )

Yes. Maybe better.

I'm lighter than you, though ( fiberglass wideboby, hood, hatch, etc ) and I want to run low 5's with a supercharger / holley 650 and a big ring and pinion change.

I just calculated a 1979 stepside chevy with a stock 250 in-line 6 and it came to about 16 seconds 0-60. That's probably in the ballpark, too.

But, how does that figure in stuff like tires, gear ratios, and stuff like that? As far as I know, tires can make an easy second depending on the tire type (unless that's the one second you were referring to?)

Actually, the next biggest factor after peak horsepower and weight is transmission. An automatic will add about a second the average car's 0-60. A stopwatch in hand and your speedometer would give you a more accrate result than this formula.

953/(260*.9) = 4.0

again.... traction would be nice

what would be better is a 60 - 120mph calculator (what most of my highway races are)
