~Drifting~

Yo, just wanted to let you all know about my experience tonight.

I pulled into a local hang-out downtown St.Paul in SEARS. There was like 10 lined up, all rear wheel drive cars.

They saw me pull up ans asked me if I would like to go drifting with them. I looked at my friend and said yes I would. So we followed them.

Thast was fun ****, its an old motorcycle track thats abandoned. It was mostly MR-s's and 24- SX's. Except for one 240 with a silvia Turbo swap and he was nuts.

Some took a video of my car, so hopefully it will be on thw net soon.

Just wanted to let yuou all know about my drifting experience!

well, now you got us all wondering, how did the actual "drifting" part go? Did you get it going well? Did you spin out at all and end up backwards? did it scare you?

details! details! and above ALL, PICS!

or video like you mentioned

heh, I really need to get that LSD in mine (not to mention a ton of other replacement/upgrade parts, and restoration) so that I can drift in my RX.

Though, I did three "front wheel drifts" today and yesterday in the Tempo! well, uh, yeah...I was dreaming and took the highway ramps too fast and actually remained in control of the car while sliding.... heh heh

Well, it did go pretty well. I didnt do much, do to the fact I just got the car 2 weeks ago and didnt want to demolish it. I dont know if I have the LSD in my 80, but I think I might becasue I get that whine from the rearend, and when I was done, both rear tires were nice and sticky.

But from doing it, I realized that my car is solid. I am also an excellent drifter, and you can ask any of my friend and theyll tell you.

I have no pics or Vids, but next time I go up there I will **** some photos. Well, my frind will at leat. Then Ill have my friend get into the car with me with a Vid Cam. But until then, have a good one!

I drifted my new 84 (13b street port holley and headers) yesterday while playing around.... was pretty fun till once I decided to go straight again, I eased off the gas, and the car went the way the wheel was pointed, then I let go, and the *** end went the other way..... ect........... fish tailed back and fourth three-4 times....... was bad *** if you ask me... besides that fish tailing part, haha!........

I gotta get outta the reflex action to correct the car when I feel the *** end going out...

I try to e-brake *** drag my Honda all the time, and every time I do it, I end up recorrecting the car... I even have a couple hundred pounds of **** in the trunk to balance the engine...

What I really need is an open industrial area around here... There are no places to drift.. no abandoned air fields, no open parking lots away from people who will call the cops... Nothing... I don't need to get arrested by a cop on a power trip for sliding my car near nobody...

Its about 15-20 miles North of St.Paul, you can take 35E to 694 West. Forgot the gas station you turn by, but thats how you get there.

Tom,

When you heading out there next? Maybe we can round up a few of us Rx-7 guys and have some rotary fun out there. I'm sure it would make for some good pictures... I can bring my Mavica cam and take some Mpegs too.

no lsd in a 80 unless someone before you put it there. its a bitch without one too. you have a tendency to just spin the one tire and when you lose momentum and it catches BAM right back the way you were counter steering. i kept smacking my helmet on the driver's door frame at the autox when it would catch like that.
