ok heres the deal i had a bad intake o ring, i replaced it, and wile i was doing that i took out the rats nest. all i did was plug the vacume lines with screws when i had all the open ends on the carb. no im a old v8 guy and i know no matter what if you have fuel and spark the car should start. but mine isnt really trying it turns and the rpm gadge jumps a little evry time it turns full circle. i have the distributer set right were it did run befor the tare down.
is there a sensor i have to bypass or maybe a computer i can tear out?
1983 12a SE, lsd. also removed the a/c

I would say first, make sure you have no vacuum leaks. Kinda hard to do if the engine won't start, but do a thorough visual inspection at least. Pull the plugs and check them, particularly the lowers. Are the wet with fuel? If so clean them. I beadblast mine then hit them with brake clean and blow dry with compressed air. Brake clean and air at a minumum. Before you install the plugs, deflood the engine, then pour a capful of motor oil down each barrel of the carb and turn it over a few revolutions, install plugs, try to start.

you might have dont what i did and forgot to plug in the bowl sensor. the one wire that plugs into the harness on the driver's side. there is a two wire one on the other side of the carb. Now if you dont plug them in, you will basically flood the **** out of the engine because the bowls cant vent, and the engine wont start, or will for 1/4 second and die.
Make sure your plug wires are in the right order if you had the dizzy removed and such. remember the left rotor is the #1. Top is leading, lower is trailing. i believe the left coil is the leading but dont take my word for it.
Yes make sure to check for vac leaks, and make sure you didnt plug off the vent bowl where the wire that i noted is located. I.E driver side, near the top of the carb.
If all else fails, bust out the starter fluid.

If none of this works, let me know and maybe I can swing by and give you a hand... Or if you can get it running enough to get to Grand Rapids then that would be even better.

Yeah, look down into the carb with the engine off and see if the plates are closed all the way (should be a small gap in the primary side). Move the throttle cable around and see how they open/close. Also, can you clarify if you have a SE (fuel injected) or a car with a 12a (carbed)...
