*Couple A' Questions*

first off id like to say thanks alot for the HUGE response i got back from you guys in my last post. But just to let you know im a Rotary No-Body, i know not a dam thing about them and have a couple of stupid questions (also this 1980 rx7 is my first car):

#1
I was looking under the hood today and found a tube just sitting there not pluged into anything ... >> ill get you guys some pictures on that soon.

#2
Also under the hood infront of the passenger side corner i found this Can thats just floating around under the hood not bolted to anything .. it looks like a soup can without the label and has 2 tubes running from it to the drivers side ... anyone know where this is suppose to be??

#3
A couple of days ago my clutch just failed at a red light when trying to get back into 1st gear i pushed it to the floor and when i moved my foot it was stuck at the floor. When i bent down to pull it up the clutch just swang back and forth with no pressure it all. I had to push it from the light to a gas station. I was able to put the car into 2nd gear when it was off, then i just turned it on and i was on my way home...slowly. About 2 blocks away from home i heard a snap and the black wire around my pully snaped... and when i picked it up when i got home i just found 1 wire and i looked under the hood i found the none of my pullys had a wire around any of them.. so im pretty sure now i just need to get 3 wires (if you know the correct name for these wires that go around my pullys please let me no ) .But im not positive if thats correct... any thoughts??

#4
Also ive been looking around the forum and im beginning to see some Lingo that i dont have a clue about.. ex: FB FC GSL GS.... i looked around my car and my emblems say "Annivery X" "Rotary Engine" and thats all so im guessing i dont have a GS or GSL .. But i have no clue what these FB FC's are... can you Rx7-Gurus inform me ?

#5
Does anyone know of anywhere i could get some nice looking floor mats that say RX7 on them? maybe some awesome stock ones...

#6
Also any national apolstery places that can do my seats over??

#7
i see these black grate type things on rear windows alot what are those called and how do they look on an 80?

#8
i saw these black grate like things on the rear windows of alot of old rx7s.. what are they called and how do they look on an 80?

#9
I saw a picture of an rx7 with its rear view mirrors farther down like 6-7 inches away from the lights . do many people do that? is that only in other countries? has anyone done it?? if so..... howd ya do it?

-thanks guys

PS- ill get some pictures to you guys so you can see what im dealing with most likely on tuesday night... so check back soon !!

thanks again

#2 should be a mount on the pass strut tower

#3 sounds like a clutch slave cyclindar, try a rebuild kit, very cheap and easy to do. (wires around pulleys I have no clue, Belts )

#4 SA=1979-1980, FB=1981-1985, FC=1986-1991, FD=1993-1998, G,GS,GSL,GSL-SE, all models of 1st generation rx7's

#5 www.victoriabritish.com or try www.mazdatrix.com

#6 Just had a set done, leather cost me $900 per seat, dont know price on fabric, better off finding a freind who can sew, and dont opt for leather

The Japanese RX-7 had the mirrors on the fenders.

1- get us a pic

3- like was stated, replace your clutch cylinders, and yes those are belts, DO NOT DRIVE WITHOUT THEM or your car will over heat and youll be looking for a new motor.

4- read thru the FAQ post at the top of the forum.

6- theres plenty of shops here in town that will do a nice job on your seats. I use a guy in Kissimmee off Michigan ave. Excellent work and fair prices. Breand new seat bottom for my GSL was $80 in vinyl and 150 in leather.

My 82, it's the charcoal canister, but in the 81 I dunno if it uses the same system as mine or the airbox method.

ya, it takes fumes from the gas tank and runs them through the filter before exposing them to the environment. it is a charcoal canister...
