$150

Is there any worthwhile mod that I could buy for $150 that wouldn't require me to buy anything else?

I'm hoping you guys know of a HP-improving mod, but if not then just throw out whatever comes to mind.

would you get much of a HP increase if you put on headers and didn't do the rest of the exaust system?

WEll, I guess I should of said, headers & straght pipe back to the muffler. I would throw in a pre-silencer or glasspak in there to keep the exhuast note pleasent. Maybe make your 2ndaries mechanical. It will feel more responsive but also lose more gas. he he.

Save your money and desigh a process to create the car you want. Throwing money at a car rarely makes any sense.

for $150.00 i would try to do all the "cheap" freebie mods

thats the most bang for the buck,

sterling's carb mod
poor mans direct fire
cheap straight pipe to bypass the three cats
cut up the air box or go custom ram air
remove emissions equipment

you will get more from these then any single $150.00 mod

i know because i have well over $2,000.00 in performance parts and i already did all the mods above first,

you have to start somewhere

Get that header!!! Or save yer pennies till ya can get one.
Don't do anything half assed. Non of the mods mentioned so far will have a profound effect on performance (cept maybe the header).
But do all of them, and NOW yer getting somewhere!

Hm... I might just save it for a while, or spend it on something else.

I just wanna know why a Holley Carb costs like $800 from RB.

That's just crazy. I could buy 4 parts cars for that. `,=o/

exhaust is the most restrictive part. most of what dave mentioned is free. time and patience there. if anything save a little more and buy the header and presilencer.

Forget about intake or ignition. Use the $150 to get the Bonez race pipe from rx7.com. It is basically a straight pipe with a presilencer, replaces all the cats and bolts to the exhaust manifold. Buying just the headers will only make your car louder and nothing else if you don't do anything downstream. This will be the only $150 mod which will make a noticeable power difference.

No you will have to modify it, if you want it to bolt to a RB header.

Don't buy the intake until you have done the whole exhaust system. If you do, I bet you will be very displeased. The exhaust has to come first, the intake will just try to put more air and fuel down a tiny, restrictive exhaust pipe.

Well I started my mods with only a header into the stock exhaust it made a huge difference in power! Now I replaced the last cat with a glasspack (very nice)
