MN Is this car worth the work for the price?

Hi guys again as some of you know i have a 79 mazda rx7 but it is in such great shape i don't want to drive it or upgrade it so i want another one i can have some fun with. I found this one it has been repainted and has a razing beat exhaust to but the interior needs a full blown restoration and the wheel well has rust not bad he says all the rest of the rust was fixed by a shop. I was ready to go get it but he texted me and said the ring gear failed so he has to go fix it so that will take about a month he also has a loan on the car of $1400 but i got him down to $900 and he will pay for the rest so what do you guys think this car if i buy it will be my money pit where i modify it when lot's of new toys thanks guys.

Okay i just got through talking with a guy with a 79 rx7 that i was looking at thought he sold it. It has alot of upgrades upgraded 13b engine rebuilt with 5k miles the carb is bad he has it tuned for a street engine but this engine is stock, has new touch pad cd player, new coils, rims and tires, wires, needs new paint and front bumper all the work was done by a rotary shop. i am leaning on this one it is more but i think it has alot of the work done what do you guys think will work for me?

900 for a running driving rx7 is a pretty good steal, but I would want the title the same day I pay.

On the 13b car he will sell me the car and a engine either a street port with bad water jackets or a bridge port with bad rotor housings the stock 13b is fine just needs a new carb because the carb on it is the a street port he will sell me all of it for $2900 or i bet i can get him down without the carb or extra engine for around $1700 do you guys think i should take the extra engine for the price or keep the stock 13b the stock was just rebuilt 5k miles ago. this car will be used for daily driving.

Bridge ports suck on the street, but you don't know that yet, so get the bridge port and use it as your daily driver.

He's right. A stock port or a mild port is the best choice for the street.

sorry if your going for a "79", the wheels are wrong, the seats are wrong, the bumper & fenders are wrong, the paint is wrong and that what I see at a quick glance from the pictures

Now with that said don't get me wrong if you really like the car then go for it, but the seller to screw with you acting as if he has some super special unmolested gem is BS, I'm on your side he shouldn't be screwing with you and going up with his price

PS: as far as the 13B .... well I have seen many a 1146cc engine keep up or even pull on 1308cc engines (N/A of course) ..... Example DD attended WHiV7 and had no issue keeping up with the FC's FD's and 8's .... his car ran strong,

all of he above is simply someone's opinion but as you posted on a forum I assumed you were open to others

Well i have a stock original 79 so it doesn't matter with this one i think it looks great but everybody has different tastes in how to modify there rx7. With the price i have him down to $1750 with no carb so that is a great price.

yes the first pic is way better but what do you expect it is a 2k car if it was perfect he would be asking 5k at least.

well the widebody kit would be what $3000, plus labor to install

I'd consider your skill set, if you can massage it further along it's starts falling back to your favor of how good of a deal it is, if you'd have to pay 2 or 3k to have someone else to do it then not so much

I am doing my best to me non bias, because I could easily see it being part of my collection lol

oh that blue looks like 04 RX8 Winning Blue

Daytona Blue such as referred to in the other thread is like this

plus the other stuff akins price for the motor is $4k i am guessing he put over 10k into the car but he would of saved alot to doing it himself. But i have time to learn i will probably give it a go and pull the trigger on it. I don't see why everybody is saying it is a terrible car all it needs is a little body work every rx7 needs work just the way it is.
