would you buy?? Good deal?

I found a parts car 84gsl se 57k yes 57k on the motor and body but was crashed in the front and never but back together. Motor and trans are complete. Looks like it has been sitting for quite a while. Guy moves out of state tommrow so he needs it gone. He bought the car to put the motor in another car but never got around to it. claims the motor ran good before he parked the car. I did notice the motor does turn over just fine. The interior is mostly there but has see some rain and sun over the years. ANyways guy want 200$ for the whole thing. I figured i could atleast swap over the rear end to my 82 and then sell the rest of the parts on here. you guys think its worth it??

Hell yes. I've seen the parts for a full SE suspension swap go for 300-500. With that low of mileage on the the car, I would seriously think about converting the 82 to a full SE, engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, etc.. You've run across a very rare deal, jump on it quickly.

second the motion-
plus oodles of hardly-used SE body/trim/electrical bits that you could sell to folks, could easily pay for the car if not to badly exposed to elements! The bags of great almost new hardware bits alone would be sweet, so strip it to the frame-

Third the motion. Money in the bank if you have room and time to strip it and sell it off piecemeal.

Trans alone is likely worth the money, if the mileage is that low.

Unless it's been let to completely rot from sun, rain, and rodents. I recently was steered to a 79 SA that had just arrived in a local boneyard, engine compartment intact... thought I'd struck gold, til I realized that the engine and carb had been home to a colony of rats for a number of years.

Rat **** had literally eaten away a lot of the carb metal - - completely corroded into an unworking blob, and stuffed full of rat turds to boot. I cried a little.

Everybody's yelling 'strip-it-down'! but how about considering that there aren't that many SE's out there on the roads anymore, and if he were to rebuild the front end, he could be looking at a car restored for a thousand dollars in body work that might bring as much as $3-4k to a collector.

Sure, it's been wrecked, but with 57k miles on the odometer, it could very well be one of the lowest mileage SE's on the road. Maybe that fender bender is what kept it from being driven into the ground...?

For $200, it'd be worth the money just to buy time to make a decision later on.

Parting out cars to stripped bare frames is depressing to me, and I'd never buy a car with that intention. I've even sold my 80LS (SA) for $1 to a rotary enthusiast complete with spare parts in the hatch space, just to help motivate him to restore it and drive it. But, that's just me.

If the car is too far gone to repair, who cares? Buy it and swap everything over like everyone else is saying. If it can be fixed, there are alot of people who can help you find the parts to put it back together. Either way, BUY IT! Good luck!

Buy it. Its not the deal of the century but the parts alone will be very worth it. I bought a '87 TII with bad front end damage for $150 and made about $1400 off the parts. Buy it first then worry about what you're going to do with it. Either way you can't go wrong. And I need a fuel pump so hit me up when you buy that ****.

lol sounds good guys. You guys pretty much made my decision. Yea the mileage is that low because it was crashed in the front along time ago and pretty much stripped down in the front for repair but then the guy lost intrest in it so he sold it to the guy im about to buy it off of as a parts car he wanted the motor for another one of his cars because of such low milleage and now he just got another job in another state so he has to have it gone asap! Only problem is it has been sitting for awhile. THe guy assured me it ran perfect about a year ago when he first got it and then he got the motor ready to pull out and just never got the other car ready for it and thats the end of that.

I can tell this motor has low milleage underneath the car and everything its clean and not clean like its been cleaned recently but there is absolutly no oil buildup on anything the engine, trans, rearend nothing it looks like a 57k motor.
